I love Kato track, it looks good, is easy to use, and my trains run perfectly on it. It was well worth the cost!

Kato, it rocks
Rock solid track and turnouts, particularly if you are going to be changing things around frequently. Kato's remote control turnout sysem is particularly nice for those who maybe need to be able to tear their track down from time to time as it's totally contained in the turnout. Their controls do essentially require the use of their power pack as they snap on to the side of that (I believe there is an adapter you can get and you may only need 1 adapter for all your controls). This set is a good value over buying the components separately. It still is sectional track, not flex track, so do be aware of what you're getting. It's also n scale: you do need to keep things pretty clean or your locomotives won't make good electrical contact with the rail.

A more economical way to purchase switches
The engineering of the track is superb. I added the Magnetic uncoupling ramps (Kato 20-032 sold separately) to all three yard tracks and was up and running a switching game in minutes. The number 6 switches work flawlessly and provide a very smooth transition to the diverging route. Well done.

The perfect addition.
I started model railroading and have used several different types of track. I find that KATO is one of the best. Easy to put together and is very versatile.
