August DTA250 Portable Indoor TV Aerial With Magnetic Base

May 2015 update. Had this since October 2014 and have used it all over the UK when caravanning. Never failed to get a good picture, far easier than the caravan aerial, not having to point in the transmitter direction and gets better reception. At Coniston Caravan Club site this last weekend and found it gave better reception and as least as many channels as the site bollard boosting connection. Going to but another one for my laptop in the study so I can watch/record TV. Bought this thinking at this price I've nothing to lose. Connected it up in the kitchen to an Avtex L187DRS TV which we use for our camping trips, no signal. Had read that putting it on to a metal surface is good so, being in the kitchen, I placed it (as you do) on an empty olive oil tin! Instant picture and good quality. Then took TV and aerial out to our VW California camper-van and plugged the TV into 12 volt socket for power and put the aerial onto the windscreen pillar. Powered up and immediately got good quality pictures on all the channels. Looking forward to trying it out in anger, as they say, but so far it looks like a very good acquisition and at this price a steal. Amazon more than usual great service, Ordered at 1:00 pm Saturday arrived following day, Sunday, at 10:30 am and this was on First Class delivery/ two working days. Well done.

I was looking for an aerial to get some good reception due to our home being in a dip and hard to recieve any good signal plus the aerial roof had broke. So I found this little beauty. After arriving so quick I set up within a few seconds and searched for some channels via the set up box. I was sceptical that it would find nothing due to the poor reception. But to my delight it came up with over 100 channels. The quality is great and now we can watch TV in the back room while someone watches TV in the front room. It is a nice little aerial, easily can be hidden and still will work great. The length of the cable on the aerial of which you connect to the tele is a good length maybe could be made longer but no issue for us. If it needed to be longer you can always buy a coax extender cable. Overall this cable is great and I would recommend to everybody. I am very pleased with the seller. Exceeded my expectations. I was quite surprised how good it worked plugged into my portable TV a clear picture and sound. I haven't tried it for Freeview to see if it works but just wanted the 4 channels to view. Well worth the money.

Is not working well properly

Bought this after returning a previous one which had an input too big to go in the back of the (wall mounted) bedroom telly. Beware this if you are buying one! Ordered this as a replacement, it is heavy and feels well made. No issues with the input sticking out too far of the back of the TV. There was nowhere near it to use the magnet feature though, but I discovered that it sits on the narrow top of the TV using a bit of magnetic power. It picks up (almost) all the Freeview channels including terrestrial HD. My hopes weren't all that high for this little aerial after years of buying cheap ones for bedroom tellies but it's def the best I've bought. Would prob work even better is used in the way the box recommends i.e., sticking it to something metal to amplify the signal, but even without this it works great. Caveat about the gushing review - I've reached the age where stuff like this excites me.

This Aerial is OK for the price. You have to be selective where you put it though and, although it will pull in loads of TV stations the quality of the picture is not good on all of them (to such an extent that some of them can't be watched - and this is where the position is vital). The BBC and ITV stations are perfect though.

Have been struggling for a while to find the right aerial, after having tried way more expensive ones. So read the reviews and thought for just over a tenner why not give it a go. Well all my fears and doubts have been allayed almost immediately, this little gadget found all the channels within 5 mins of new installation set up on TV, it found 100 plus TV channels and 60 radio stations. What a cracking little tool, just note that sometimes if you stick it ontop of a metal canister of some sort (in my case a biscuit tin) then the picture in my area is perfect. I'm just stuck with a biscuit tin in my bedroom, still full of biscuits I hasten to add. So its not helping my diet! All in all, it did such a good job, I've bought one for a friend and another for my sons room. Would defo recommend to anyone else.

Works great If you put it on something magnetic. I was using an amplified aerial but since buying a pc the fan speed interfierd with the signal so I thought I'd try this one out and I'm glad I did. When it isn't on a magnetic item the signal is average, but I have a steel book case for a video game which is magnetic and it made a huge difference I went from 35-50 channels with choppy signal to the 90 with perfect signal even with the pc being on and a PlayStation 5 being on and underneath the ariel. I'm only missing a few of the HD channels (quest HD qvc HD ext) but the main ones it picks up fine. Would recommend especially at the 10 pound range it beats a 30-40 pound aireial

Given Foxtel will be discontinuing cable service in 2023, I was told the only way to access FTA stations if I went with their internet only connection would be via an aerial. After reading the mixed reviews on this product I decided to take a punt for $24 rather than go through the cost and major disruption of having an outdoor aerial installed on the roof. The gamble paid off. This product took all of 10 seconds to 'install'. You need only plug it into the TV's aerial outlet. A quick Tuning scan on the TV and 38 digital TV channels (plus plenty of radio ones) were immediately detected. All channels came through with great clarity. Points to note about my example (v's what others may have experienced): - Aerial was located right by a window - House is in a metropolitan / central Sydney suburb. I'm probably only a few KMs from the broadcast towers. It's a small and unobtrusive unit, so if you fulfil the above criteria, I'd recommend giving this product a go.
