Works well, features a bit tricky to use, but excellent value
These are magic and at this price, look no further for normal DIY. For the key use interior measurement this has been so much better than a tape and it seems very repeatable and accurate if you get a good "hit" on the target. Compares accurately to my tape for spans around 3-7 meters which is all I've used it for, but still easy to use down at say 50mm. Only downside is the live readout which just doesn't give you the same experience as feeding out a tape measure, but that's where tapes are just the more appropriate tool and shouldn't reflect badly on this product.

Misurazioni precise

Sure beats the old 8' spring tape for long measurements
OK, I've had the classic Stanley black and yellow tape measure for years. For some things it is quick and easy. "What's the size of that table?" But a while ago I needed to get the measurements of a very oddly shaped room in order to make a model of it. My mental estimate was that the longest measurement was mayb 60 feet. Lay donw the 8 foot tape and move it perhaps 8 times? I don' think so. This came to the rescue. Just push the button and point to the opposite wall with the red spot at the same height, and read the length in feet and inches (or metric if you would rather. Need to measure a distant height, there's a way to do that. How about X, Y and Z for volume? Sure. It comes with a little belt holster, wrist loop, a playing cad sized reflective 'target' an assistant might hold, and multi-language instruction sheet which explains the icons for selecting measurement modes, etc. It has bubble levels in the body so you are sure of straight-line measurements. What it did NOT reveal is whether the distance measurement includes the length of the device. (My old Stanley tape says "include 2" for body of case". So is the measurement from the lens on the end, or the butt of the device if you press it against a wall? You will have to run a little experiment to find out - As my old physics text book used to say: "It is left as an exercise for the student."
