Nextion 2.8″ HMI Display Enhanced Series NX3224K028 Resistive LCD-TFT Touch Screen 320 * 240, with RTC Function and 8 Digital GPIOs, Suitable for IoT Smart Device, 3D Printer, etc.

This Nextion screen is a great addition to my hotspot running pi-star. It comes with wired connectors and pin connectors I used (after separating 2*2 pins for the 4 pins needed for the Nextion connection to the mmdvm board) and soldered to the mmdvm hat. The "K" version supports touch controls. The clarity of the display is outstanding and this one replaces a 2.8" display and the differences make the screen much easier to read. I used the HMI editor to get the Nextion FW (the tft load) updated to the most recent version and after writing it to a 16GB SD card and inserting it into the SD card slot on the Nextion display, the display updated itself to the pi-star supported display. The picture shows one of the display FW I tried and shows the clarity of the display.

Nextion screen has been a nice addition to my WPSD hotspots. I have the full picture of what is happening on my dmr connection.

These are not the easiest to use, and they are slow to program, but they are good displays for interfacing with microprocessors, and the Nextion software is pretty versatile. The only complaint I have is that there's no real manual for the software. There is an instruction set. That's about it. The screens all come with a sample program loaded. It would be very valuable if you could download that program to use as a reference. As it is now, you cannot. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

It shows pictures of the battery installed when looking around at the different models. Opened the box to see that the battery doesn't come with the unit. Guess features you pay for aren't always included with the RTC functionality. Needs a CR1220. Also, if you want to use the 8 Digital GPIOs, you have to buy a separate component to use them. Nextion IO Adapter or the Nextion I/O Extended Expansion Board.

This little monitor really opens up the world to the Arduino. Definitely the best accessory for an Uno or Nano. Excellent tutorials for the screen designing software on YouTube.

This little LCD-TFT was packaged very well in some high density foam. I was a bit fearful when the package arrived because the box was in a mailer envelope, but the packaging its self held up very well and protected the device. This is perfect with our Pi. The resolution is beautiful and the screen its self is super responsive. I am looking forward to the projects to come.
