Actually pretty good
I wasn't sure what this would be like, but I am pretty happy with it. Taste wise it is not as good as a quality heirloom pumpkin or pie pumpkin and is fairly bitter in comparison, such that I need to add some splenda if I'm eating the pumpkin by itself. In this regard, it's similar to libby's canned pumpkin or something like that, so it delivers on its promise for being a pumpkin puree substitute. It tastes fresh and gives that nice pumpkin texture. The instructions say to rehydrate 2 parts water to 1 part pumpkin to achieve the canned pumpkin analogue. Convenience wise, this is where it's really impressive. You can control the thickness anywhere from a dense paste to a loose drink. You don't have any can spoilage management and can take the exact amount you need every time. I did not have clumps and found it to rehydrate easily, though I could see sifting it being helpful especially if it's been sitting for a long time. If you're wondering how this all works, it is like instant mashed potatoes basically. I plan to actually use this with instant mashed potatoes to try to recreate something I got at a corner store in Argentina that was instant pumpkin/potatoes that I thought was very good and this seems likely to work. Price wise, this is approximately "as expensive as crap", which is probably why a lot of people are talking about using this as a supplement for their dogs or whatever. They do sell a giant bulk version that is roughly the same as canned pumpkin price wise, so I will plan on getting that after I finish my bag. If you are not a pumpkin fanatic like me and only use a little bit of pumpkin at the time for recipes, this size will likely be fine even at the higher price, as the convenience of not having to mess with the can portioning will win out. I will leave a review on the giant size when I get it.

Love it! Helps with my dogs anal gland issues
I use this as a supplement for my picky little dog who has anal gland issues. Once I rehydrate it to doggie approved consistency. Given daily and no issues

formula change?
The first time i bought this (last year) was great. the powder was clumpy but that wasn't a problem. it didn't take much powder to get a thick pumpkin puree. this second purchase, i noticed the color of the powder was much lighter, no clumps, BUT i feel like it takes much more powder to get the thick/ creamy pumpkin puree. we're burning through this tub much faster. It's still works for us (we use it for the dog) but I'm sad that they potentially changed the formula?

A Miracle For Dogs with GI Upset
I have been spending obscene amounts of money to aid my large dogs loose stools. In desperation I chose this one becasue it made for economic sense. I was skeptical but I wanted to give OTC products one more try rather than go to the vet and pay a house note getting him treated. It started from listening to another friend who is so wowed by celebrity endorsements that I began to feed him cow's liver that was cooked a tad. They had to have organ meat, so I as told and accepted the information. When I used this product I was overwhelmed with relief. It solidified his stool and it is so easy to use. On top of that he loves the taste! Feeding time is less wondering if I'm giving him something that will upset his GI track. Let's not mention the clean-up. At this juncture I would recommend this to anyone having the same type of issue.

Actual quantity needed to make puree is very expensive
The product is fine, but there are NO instructions about reconstituting the powder on the package to make a puree for baking. Google search says to use 1/4 cup powder per cup of water and that just makes a soupy pumpkin slurry, not what I'm looking for. I happened to see on the same brand's one gallon plastic container, that the instructions are a 2:1 ratio of water to pumpkin and that makes this a very expensive product..... if I need 200 gms of pumpkin, I'm using nearly 100 gms of powder, which is 3.5 oz, at $0.94/oz, =$3.29 for less than one cup of puree. If you want a can's worth, you'd need to double that + additional. With my own dehydrated pumpkin, it only takes a few tablespoons. I don't understand why this doesn't rehydrate similarly, and it requires so much to make puree.... Would like to know this from the manufacturer please! Not sure I'll buy again, or buy another brand in quantity. Buying the 1 gallon container is the cheapest per oz, in all of the options on Amazon.

Powdered Pumpkin Puree beats the canned pumpkin!
This powder is so much easier to buy and use than the canned stuff. I have a dog with a sensitive gut and I've been giving her a tablespoon daily of the canned pumpkin puree b/c it really does check diarrhea. Lugging cans home from the supermarket is one thing but even when refrigerated in a plastic container the canned pumpkin spoils before we get through it. So it's not cost effective and it takes up a lot of pantry space. The tub of powder can be used according to need. It produces a darker richer-looking color and I can make small batches mixing the powder with water. She scarfs it up. This powder is guaranteed to be pure, with nothing added. I can travel with a small amount of powder so she can maintain her diet.
