From the author of the international bestseller The Little Book of Hygge Lykke (Luu-kah) (n): Happiness It's easy to see why Denmark is often called the world's happiest country. Not only do they have equal parental leave for men and women, free higher education and trains that run on time, but they burn more candles per household than anywhere else. So nobody knows more about happiness - what the Danes call lykke - than Meik Wiking , CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen and author of the bestselling sensation The Little Book of Hygge . But he believes that, whilst we can certainly learn a lot from the Danes about finding fulfilment, the keys to happiness are actually buried all around the globe. In this captivating book, he takes us on a treasure hunt to unlock the doors to inner fulfilment. From how we spend our precious time, to how we relate to our neighbours and cook dinner, he gathers evidence, stories and tips from the very happiest corners of the planet. This is the ultimate guide to how we can all find a little more lykke in our lives. Meik Wiking is the CEO of The Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen and is one of the world's leading experts in happiness. Pink-coloured glasses with Denmark way too much and no exploration of topics like high suicide rates
The book is very lovely to read and it’s the kind of reading everybody should read. There are really interesting things that challenge the status quo. The only things that annoy me in the book is the fact that they hide the fact that also in Denmark and other Scandinavian countries the suicide rate is higher than most of other countries and they do not explore that. For example, Danes are the 7th in the rank that use more antidepressives in a list of OECD countries, and the author does not explore that, saying that this number means that they only have less stigma with mental health. Like, what? But it also means that the population is very depressed! And it’s exactly the opposite data of being the happiest country in the world. Whilst the author put the United Kingdom always “not ideal” compared to Denmark, for example, Finland, Sweden and Denmark have much more higher suicide rates amongst their population than the UK. Other thing: the author mentions about the fact that students are not ranked in school and no-ranking is a form of happiness. However, the whole book is a ranking! They rank Denmark all the time. Is not a little ironic? So yes, the concept of the book is good, you can take wonderful lessons, but putting Denmark in a pedestal, specially uncovering suicide rates and other facts, is not ideal. The book has pink-coloured glasses with the country way too much. Take care with that! Scandinavians have a good philosophy of life, but clearly something is wrong, and the book does not explore, as naturally would not fit with its subject.

Inspiring and funny
A beautifully illustrated book that is humorous and fascinating in equal measure. I devoured it in one sitting and it left me feeling inspired to be kinder and to get more involved in my local community. I would like to move to Copenhagen and work for the Happiness Institute. I wish every politician, head teacher and CEO would read this book.

This ISN'T about personal happiness
This nicely written book didn't bring anything to the table for me. I DID learn that I'd be happier if I believed that my Government spent my tax money for our mutual benefit. And it told me a lot about what makes Groups or Communities happier. But I feel it failed to address much in the realm of Personal Happiness. Oh, and although I've finished the book, Kindle says I've only read 77% of it - the remainder is credits, acknowledgments and suchlike.

Wonderful book !
At the beginning, I was not sure whether to buy a Kindle version or hardcopy version. I checked with Amazon Support team and I am glad that I bought the Kindle version. On Kindle Fire HD, I can see the book in colors. This book has wonderful pictures and graphics. About the book: I am still reading it, but the experience so far is great and enjoying. The book has simple language, wonderful lines - driving you towards happiness... Next, I plan to read the "The Little Book of Hygge" - the book by the same author.
