Really good.
Used these today only for the first time. They are half size bigger and fit very well. Out of the box comfortable and very light. Well made and have good design qualities through out. The wide toe box is very good for balance. The control of the shoe over ground is very stable and near perfect traction and grip over grassy and muddy ground also good over gravel to small stones/mid size stones. The shoe is a little slippy on smooth wet rock like flagstones. I had been told there isn't really a jack of all trades in any shoe but I think this is nearly as good as it gets, for me...for now. Very pleased, would recommend them. ### update ### now ive had these awhile. They are still good. They are hard on the foot these are not a long distance shoe. These are slippy on wet flag stones (pennine way) they are good in snow. They are good on grass and mud. Great at down hill off road , trail , and fell they are good at expelling water when fully submerged. Still happy with them

a great shoe and surprisingly good on all surfaces
I already own a pair of Inov-8 shoes, but they are finally worn beyond use so it was time for a replacement. I wanted a pair of shoes with a low heel drop, because I tend towards the minimalist running style, and a wide toe box - which these shoes have. I also wanted to stay with Inov-8 having been very pleased with my previous pair (Race Ultra 270). I opted for this model in the end because of the above factors and the new material, which I assumed would be more water repellant than the previous pair, which did a good job of acting like a sponge. I have run about 100km in them so far - my first impression is excellent. My runs are typically on trails, so some hard surfaces - a bit of concrete and some cobble stones, but mostly compacted earth and bits of mud in places. Comfort wise - absolutely perfect. The soles are a bit stiffer than the Race Ultra's had become, and that feels good. They are pretty minimalist (4mm drop) so no heel striking, or at least not all the time! I was nervous about the grip, which is more for fell running then trail surfaces. I also have a pair of mud claws, which are great from gripping in the wet and mud but feel slightly strange on harder surfaces due to the rubber spike sole. anyhow, no problem at all, the sole feels bouncy but otherwise no different really from a normal trail sole. It grips well on all surfaces and is much nicer on the cobblestones than the Race Ultra's - where it seems every stone banged against the sole of my foot. The only surface they don't like is wet cobblestones at speed, but then I can't think of a shoe that would grip such a surface. in terms of keeping the water out - not much better than the Race Ultra's I am afraid/. I will have to find a GTX shoe for that. I know lots of people don't mind the water sloshing in and out but I don't personally like wet feet when I am running. The problem is that the GTX shoes all have a high heel lift!

Comfortable,hard wearing and good grip.
Great styling, very comfortable with plenty of width around the toes, (other brands a bit tight) the toe protection was very useful in the spartan beast yesterday! Water drained out quickly and trainers never felt water logged, the grip was excellent in the mud and on slopes, however found it a bit slippery on particular obstacles, thus the 4 stars. On a dry course no problems I'd imagine. But handled 22km very well.

The best trail shoe I have ever raced in - loads of grip, lightweight and supremely comfortable
These are by far the most confidence inspiring trail shoes I have ever owned. Excellent levels of grip across a wide variety of terrain, easy draining and drying when wet, fit was perfect and comfortable to run in straight from the box with no blister or hot spots. The most accomplished trail shoe I have ever tried - I cannot recommend strongly enough

Narrow fitting.
Having run in various Inov-8 since 2011, and the original Roclites being my first pair, I've always sworn by the brand. They've got me through the Lakeland 100 twice and the SDW100. I bought these as my primary shoe for this year's SDW100. Unfortunately the new designs are a personal disappointment. They come up slightly small so I had to go up half a size, a change to the originals in my case. Not an issue, my X-Talon 212s are half a size up and work beautifully. The problem for me is a new narrowness of the shoe. Particularly the toe box. My toes can't splay properly. I run awkwardly in them and have encountered ankle and toe issues that are not there with other shoes over the same route and distances. They feel to me like a Salomon type of fit, I can't run any distance in those either sadly, they make some great shoes. The quality is of the usual high standard, there is more cushioning than the originals and they offer good underfoot protection. A substantial toe protection rounds that off. The lock lacing system works well and holds my foot in the back of the shoe. A slightly wider toe box and these would be perfect for me. If you are a habitual Salomon runner then give these a go for moderate or rocky long distance trail running. My wife who fits that bill loves her late model RocLites. If you are a habitual wide footed Inov-8 runner then try before you buy and be careful.

Good replacement for old-style (Standard Fit) X-Talon 212s
I bought these to replace my worn out Inov-8 X-Talon 212s (2015 or 2016). When I bought the latest X-Talon 212s (2018) I didn't realise until they arrived that they'd changed them from Standard Fit to Precision Fit and changed the sizing. I sent them back as they were far to long and thin. I was disappointed not to be able to find the old style 212s for sale anywhere. After a bit of trial and error found the best replacement for my old 212s in Standard Fit size 11 was the 200s in size 9.5. They're not QUITE as wide-fitting and rugged-feeling as the old 212s but they're wide enough and generally close enough to be a good replacement. The sole is identical except that this is a harder, less rubbery compound which seems to be harder-wearing but perhaps not as grippy on more slippery surfaces. They're likely to be the only trail/fell shoes I'll use until they need replacing.

I really like the product
I really like the product; however, even though I always order a size 10 in shoes & trainers, I have had to send my regular size back as it was too small.

Probably the most versatile trail shoe I own. Works great in all conditions from hard packed dirt, rock and mud. Great long run or even race shoe. It has become a go to shoe for me in training and OCR. Love Inov8!

Just put them through some very severe hikes in Colorado, and they performed great. Super traction, foot was well anchored and no blisters. Some changes from previous generation - seem to have traded the sticky rubber for a more durable material, which means they have less grip on smooth rocks. Also, they removed some rock protection from the exterior (big toe / metatarsal area) that creates a vulnerable spot.
