BaseQi aluminum microSD Adapter for MacBook Air 13" and MacBook Pro 13"/15" (Non-Retina)

Arrived a day late despite Royal Mail falsely claiming package delivered. Not sellers fault. Product works well.

Onc I had made sure of the correct model for my MacBook Air this little piece of plastic did its job perfectly. The 256GB SD card fitted in it securely and once it was slotted in the aluminium colour matched the laptop beautifully. It has just trebled the ROM so all is good! (Quite why Apple charge so much for hard drive memory when the cards are tiny is a (criminal) mystery to me.

Works but fit not great took a few tries to get it flush. It was working sticking partially out but I realized it was a micro mm out of alignment. A little shove and the unit slotted in properly. Getting it out is not possible with finger nails due to tight fit. A screw driver is needed. This is ok from my perspective as the USB card i am using is there permanently to extend the memory of my Mac.

This is a great adaptor for using a Micro SD card as additional storage on a macbook air. I put a 64GB Sandisk Extreme micro SD into the adaptor, put the adaptor into the computer and reformatted the card as Mac OS Extended and everything was good to go. I have moved various files onto the SD card to free off space on the internal drive, the SD card is being backed up by Time Machine so I feeel pretty secure about the whole process. Overall this seems like an excellent and inexpensive way of adding more storage to a Macbook Air. Will update if problems arise in the future!

This is a fantastic little device if you are a Macbook Air user and don't wish to pay Apple's extortionate prices for upgraded storage; with this device and a microSD card (not included) you can easily add up to 256GB of storage to the computer, and the device sits flush inside the laptop allowing cases to still fit and ensuring that there is no risk of the device catching as you move the laptop - this would be a risk with a normal SD card. 10/10 would purchase again!

This adapter fits into laptop slot perfectly - but only when it is empty without SD card. I bougth 512GB Samsung EVO Plus (so good quality SD card) and I had a probem to fit it inside of this adapter - it just went too hard. But then I panicked - I could not get it out, I thought I will have to use pliers and destroy the adapter, but eventually I managed to get the card out with a huge difficulty. Then I applied a bit of olive oil (but not touch the contacts) so the SD card goes out more easily but it is still the problem. But the problem does not end there. It was again a problem to insert it into the laptop slot when SD card was here and then to move it out - don't use your nails or you break them!!! I used two wooden sticks to get the card out. So I know I can get card out with wooden sticks and SD card with some difficulty - at least nobody arund my laptop can easily steal the SD card as it is literally 'hammered' in... But it shoudl not be like that. I hope I have not damaged my laptop... But so far so good, I'm keeping it, but because of all these problems, I giving one star only. For over 20 pounds the quality could be better!!!!

Got this to enhance my Mac Air HDD storage. I was thinking on paying out loads for a bigger SSD stick as my Mac Air only has 128GB and was always running out of space. with this little beauty, I can just stick in any Micro SD card and store files/music etc onto it. currently I have a 256GB card in there

My whole reason for buying this was so it would sit inside the macbook casing which, it does not do like it shows in their advert on amazon. It sits out around 10mm proud, so i will be sending it back. Lastly the price at £20 is clearly hiked up by around £12 on an average compared to other similar devises because its aimed at macbook users who tend to spend premium on their accesories however it doesnt even do what its supposed to so completely unjustified.

Most MacBook air of the time had only a128GB SSD. That is abysmally small and hardly adequate. Apple is attempting to all users to get large subscriptions to iCloud as a money maker. I have been buying these and 512GB micro SD chips to create an “internal” drive for data. Works very well and is hardly visible.

Der Adapter passt perfekt in den SD-Karten-Slot und lässt sich auch gut wieder heraus nehmen. In meinem speziellen Fall habe ich dadurch die defekte Festplatte ersetzt und boote den Mac mit guter Performance von der Micro-SD-Karte.

The product works as advertised. But some tips for a flawless experience: 1.) BaseQi produces different addapters for different computers. Is not One-Size-Fits-All. Therefore, this product will Work on 13"Airs but NOT on 11"Airs, or surfacebook or others. You have to read VERY carefully and select adequately. Efectively, the product sits flush and discrete on my MacBook Air 13" Early 2015. And It's easy on the eyes (i.e. It looks good) 2.) Some of the "Negative Reviews" state that the product may burn the MicroSD. While I find that hard to believe, just in case I tested it first with some Known Good MicroSD cards I do not care About (2GB) using AJA System Test. You know you have MicroSDs like those lying around between the sofa's cushions. Use them! 3.) All that testing also meant I had to insert and retrieve a couple of times. The "ToolLess" mechanism works as advertised (a fingernail is all I need, but YMMV). 4.) I used it, along with a 200GB U-3 MicroSD to move all my steam collection, and used a Symbolic Link. This is important because, if there were instabilities (i.e. the addpater disconected) the simlink would break, and that has not happened. Mind you, I haven't moved the machine around, but seems to be stable. Overall, quick and easy way to expand your storage without paying the high priced Apple charges for their PCI-e SSD. Just bear in mind that, even if you use any of the future V60 or V90 cards that are currently i the works, it will still be slower than the indernal drive. Specially for Writes. So, is best if the data here is Write once read a lot. Or write little read a lot (like, for instance, steam games ;-) ). End of Jul 2017 update: If the laptop goes to hybernation, the SD card disconnects. I believe this is more a problem of the OSX/MicroSD card combo, and not a problem of the adapter Per-Se. extracting and reinserting the adapter takes care of any issues, and since this is a tooless adapter, is pretty simple to do. If you get a different MicroSD (or an OSX Update works some miracle), this may not affect yu. Still a Great product.

大容量(〜1TB)でも動作しました。ちゃいなにしては安定していますが、一時期からの在庫切れだったり 急激な値段高騰に疑問が残ります。リピートしたくても躊躇します。
