Great case for SATA/SAS to USBC with caveats
Have the SAS version and it has lit up every SAS or SATA drive I have thrown at it so far. It worked with a 22TB drive which my other case failed to do. Zorin OS saw it and allowed me to format and use it very fast. Pushed 150GB of data to it out of the chute from my NAS out of the chute with no issues and a sustained transfer rate of ~100MB/sec (GigE network limited.) The SMART function on the drive I installed worked just fine. Now the shell is aluminum but the sled/board carrier is simple plastic. So heat with a drive like the Western Digital Ultrastar DC 570 22TB WUH722222ALE6L4 (admittedly an enterprise NAS drive expecting of active cooling) will not result in a happy drive by any means. IE: the drive will for sure cook. Mine, without the shell in my open room at 74F, was idling at 117F. This means that though it will in fact present most any drive to your USB port. But just because one can do a thing doesn't necessarily mean one should. For the IT types, likely the target of this unit since it is a SATA/SAS device, you will wanna leave the shell off at the least. With those limits in mind I highly recommend the case just based on the function. with

Works great
A SAS enclosure that actually works properly. Supported my 2.5 inch ssd 3.84tb sas drive with no issue. The holes for the smaller drive actually line up unlike other brands.

1st SAS to USB that really works, but very expensive.
This is the first SAS to USB enclosure I've had that actually does what it advertises. Had problems at first with drive seating. Hard to push the drive into the connector on the enclosure. Transfer rates are similar to SATA. Up to ~120MB/s, but not what you'd normally get with SAS drives and a real controller. SAS are enterprise drives normally found in data centers with good cooling. Drives in this enclosure run HOT, but don't know about longevity. You wouldn't want this running 24/7 on your desk.

Does not work.
Have tried multiple SAS drives multiple USB 3.0 USB-C cables and multiple workstations. The only time this device will write to a disk is when it is connected with a USB 2.0 USB-C cable.

Not USB 3.1
From the several options here I decided to go with this model over the dock (that would worked better for me since I had to wipe 12 2TB SAS drives) because it said that was USB 3.1. but is not. Its USB 3.0.which sadly limits the transfer to 50MB. which is 1/3 of the disk speed, causing the wipe that I need to do jump from 4 days to like 16 Tested in several computers and with different cables. It does work on reading sas server disks though but I have a 20$ dock that reads sata disks at 100MB without issues....

Good and Fit and Works well...
I bought it. It works. I am just too unskilled and uncomfortable with SAS so far. I had to sell it. It was an awkward purchase for the time but the item was good and fit.

Slow
Much too expensive for how hilariously slow it is.

Simple to use
Paying attention to HDD insertion as directed by instructions, HDD insertion is easy - just don't force it. Screws for permanent HDD attachment to tray are provided as well as screws for external permanent connection of tray to case. For temporary use or HDD testing, external tray/case connection can be sufficient. Rubber foot pads are provided for the case for long term use. Simple, well constructed, case.
