Sonic Alert SBD375SSEU/USA Sonic Boom Dual Alarm Vibrating Alarm Clock

About 2 years ago, I started a job that required me to be up at 2:00 A.M.. I am not a morning person in the slightest, and was looking for an alarm clock that is LOUD. This is absolutely what I was looking for and more. There is a dial that goes up to 10 for volume, and I think 2 is a sensible level for apartment living (still plenty loud!) The vibrating disk that is attatched to the clock is something I didn’t think existed, but it works beautifully, and can’t think of using anything else. I have it under my pillow, and you can feel it easily on the low setting. It comes with an emergency battery backup, but I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve lost power, so I can’t comment on that element of it. The only downside is some of the button combinations are a little unintuitive. The ability to test the alarm and adjust the time a snooze grants you is nice, but you need to hold down 2 buttons for what seems like ages for it to register. Most certainly not a deal breaker, but that is the only downside I can think of. The clock itself feels kinda cheap and flimsy, but I have dropped the whole unit on a hardwood floor multiple times without issue, so good on it for being a tough little unit.

I gave this clock alarm 5 stars, not because it is the end all be all ofalarm clocks with every feature known to man, but because it does exactly what I need an alarm clock to do - to wake a sound sleeper wearing earplugs consistently and without disrupting my wife's rest. Likes: The alarm clock has 2 alarms. A slider switch on the side sets both alarms together to a beep, a bed shaker, or both in alternation. The volume of both beeps together can be adjusted by a wheel at the bottom right of the clock. The wheel allows you to set the alarm volume in a wide range from soft to ear splitting - it's not all or nothing. There is a test mode to try ouf your settings - very convenient. The bed shaker is about the size of a hockey puck, with a permanently attached cord that plugs into the clock. The cord is sufficient in length to place the shaker between mattress and spring on my side of the bed without issue. I also purchased the extension cord, but it wasn't needed. If you were to place the shaker on the far side of the bed, you probably would need the extension. The shaker has a definite buzz and vibration that consistently wakes me up whether I have earplugs or not. My wife can also wake if I delay shutting off the alarm long enough, but is isn't so disruptive (unlike a harsh beep) to stop her resuming sleep once it is turned off. Setting the clock is easy. Yes, it only goes forward, but two buttons give you "move slow" and "move like a bat out of Hades", so it's not a hardsbip. The display is large and can go from quite mild to bright. The clock has a detachable AC adapter,and a 9V battery preserves your settings. The physical clock is surprisingly light, somewhat cheap feeling, but I have knocked it off the bedside stand while rearranging items (on to carpet) and the clock was fine. I could see it possibly cracking if dropped on a hard floor surface. The alarm has an "upside down 7" profile when looked at from the sise, and can easily be knocked over if you pull on the cord (say while adjusting other items on the same stand). The control buttons are pretty flush against the top. The snooze button has a small bump to distinguish it from the others, and the alarm shut off is the far left button. Setting the clock needs two simultaneous presses of different buttons, and the alarm selection and volume controls are elsewhere, so you don't risk screwing up those settings while shutting down the alarm. The alarm appears to have litthe drift over the time I have owned it. Improvements I would like to see: The clock has a hard plastic bottom that slides easily - some rubber or silicone feet would be nice. Raised buttons, with a distinct texture on the alarn shut off button. A weighted base A date on the display, with automatic daylight savings time adjustment Overall I am pleased - it does what an alarm clock should do and does so well.

I purchaed the Sonic Alert SBD375ss Sonic Boom Dual Alarm Vibrating Alarm Clock , together with the Vibrator Extension Cord (SBE115) for Sonic Boom Alarm Clocks - Extends 15 ft for one of my sons for Christmas this year. He absolutely, positively is unable to get up in the mornings. To give you some idea of how bad it is, when he lived at home his alarm would be going off (on the 2nd floor) for five minutes or more without waking him. I'd finally go up and shake him awake. Even then, it might take a minute or so to wake him enough that he'd get out of bed. Now that he owns his own home, he runs two alarm clocks (regular alarm and alarm on his cellphone), plus I'd call him approximately 15 minutes after the alarms. Even then, I'd sometimes call 4-5 times and let the phone ring long periods before he'd wake up. Based on my experience, I had some doubts the Sonic Boom Dual Alarm Vibrating Alarm would even wake him. Here is what he emailed me after his first use: "There is no sleeping through that thing. The alarm part is loud and sounds like some sort of european ambulance siren. Vibrator part works really well too. It shakes the bed pretty good. I jolted up when that xxxx thing went off. Although, since it is so loud and sudden, you are in a hurry to turn it off. I could see a problem where it does wake you and you hit the button to turn it off and fall back asleep. Guess it'll be best to use the extension cord and stick it on the other side of the room so i have to get out of bed. I was a little worried that it might not vibrate enough or maybe just vibrate enough to make the bed like a massage chair or something but, nope, when it goes off you're awake!" Am I pleased with this purchase? You bet! Maybe now I can sleep in once in a while.

I really enjoy the Sonic Alert Alarm Clocks and the SBD375ss-v3 is my favorite. Started with a V1, burned out the buzzer after about 2 years. Replaced it with V2 which lasted about a year. Bought this latest model in March and again this morning. Still using the original bed shaker that came with V1, but have confirmed the newer bed shakers do shake just as well. My favorite features are the really loud buzzer and bed shaker. I have slept through earth quakes, but rarely through this alarm. This version has been improved with 2 bed shaker settings and 5 display brightness settings (night light levels 1-4 and daylight). The buzzer volume control is also neat. If you want an alarm clock more disturbing than a smoke alarm, this will work. I usually start using a new alarm with the volume set to 7. My sole complaint is the quality of the construction: it wears out when used as intended. Each alarm clock from Sonic Alert that I have purchased was taken apart after it stopped reliably waking me up. Their manufacturing methods are improving, but the lifespan is not. The decrease I have seen may have been me sleeping harder and wearing out the buzzer faster. Either way, do not expect it to last for many years for a heavy sleeper or handle abuse well. The main sign that tells me they wear out is the volume control: start at 7, adjust up to keep the same volume, replace when too quiet. That tells me something slowly dies out. In summary, it is an excellent alarm clock for a heavy sleeper. It is loud, shakes disturbingly well, and will wake just about anyone. If you really need an alarm that works, buy a spare.

I've never been a morning person, and worked mostly second and third shifts for 30+ years to accommodate my abnormal sleeping patterns. Now, as a retiree, trying to get on a more 'normal' schedule, and was missing an important 6:30 daily am phone call. This has worked for me where 2 regular alarms and and a clock radio all set for the same time, didn't. I think it might be the bed vibration (or my small dog scrambling to get off the bed) that helps most, because I don't think the alarm itself is so excessively loud~loud yes, but I think I could eventually learn to tune it out. I like that so far it stays on until you turn it off. One alarm that I had (and gave away) turned itself off after 30 seconds! Not good. Bigger footprint than I've known, but can tell the time without glasses. Would absolutely love to find this caliber of alarm with a nap function (don't even hear my cell phone alarm). Overall, should have purchased this years ago. Update: 11-10-14 well, I have learned to tune it out...came back looking for another possible solution, and decided first to try using the dual alarm function...set about 15 minutes apart. I still think not so excessively loud and it is the vibration that really wakes me up. I agree with other reviewers, the forward only function in setting times is a hassle, and almost a deal breaker when it comes to replacing this, and I will, not that confident that it made to be a rare purchase. Would knock it down a star rate if I could. Yeah, a little disappointed, and if anyone has any other replacement recommendations, please feel free.

I’ve relied on these Sonic Alert alarm clocks for well over a decade. Unfortunately this style of Sonic Alert alarm clocks do not last more than a few years which results in me having to repurchase them every few years, even with me taking extreme caution and care with them. So it was time for me to have to purchase another one of these clocks and so I purchased one off of here [Amazon]. Once it arrived I plugged the alarm clock in to my surge protector that was already plugged in to a working electrical outlet in my bedroom [because other items were also plugged in to that same surge protector and all of those other items that are plugged in to that surge protector without any issues whatsoever at all]. Surprisingly, there was a significant delay between the time that I plugged this new alarm clock in to my surge protector, and the time that the alarm clock actually powered on. There was such a long lag that I initially thought that the alarm clock didn’t work and was defective. I have never, ever experienced this lag in powering on with any of the other multiple Sonic Alert alarm clocks that I’ve had over the years in the past, INCLUDING my old Sonic Alert alarm clock that I was replacing with this one (The Sonic Alert Alarm Clock that I was replacing had issues with some of the alarm and time setting buttons no longer working, and that was why I was/am replacing it.). In addition, I also put in brand new batteries to test the Battery Back-Up function of this alarm clock and was surprised to find that the Battery Back-Up of this particular Sonic Alert Alarm Clock also did not work. I tried two sets of brand new 9volt batteries, with the same results, and I even tested both of the brand new 9volt batteries that I tried in this alarm clock with a battery tester to assure that both of the brand new batteries were working/tested positive with the battery tester and they did. I tried to do an exchange in Amazon’s ‘Return Options,’ because like I said I’ve used these specific Sonic Alert alarm clocks for years, and I unfortunately have to rely on them, but for some reason Amazon did not give me the option to exchange or replace this item for another one [of this exact same item].

This clock was bought to help awaken my slightly hard-of-hearing husband. Well, it works in that it awakens all the dogs, cats and me, fully awakens us! So we awaken Mr Sleep Through Everything. I do like having the lighted large LED display of time, for when I am up during the night & can't see the wall clock clearly in our dark room. We've not used the vibrator since one night, when somehow my little dog got on top of it and when it vibrated he freaked and tore open the feather pillow between the vibrator device and his body. So obviously it works very well - we were all awake! Perhaps I should remove the 'slightly' from the description of my husband's hearing.... But it takes up little space on his bedside table, being so slim, and works out nicely for us. I like that it is battery and/or AC powered, preferring the AC power, though we could use the battery feature in winter, when power failures are more probable, or when we travel. The lighted time display acts as a night light for middle-of-the-night bathroom forays, and I'm thinking of getting one of these for the barn, which not only can remind us when we need to finish quickly and leave the barn for the next job or appointment, but also help us check the time when our watches are hiding inside shirt and jacket sleeves and under heavy gloves, difficult to seek out.

Not only would this clock wake the dead, but you can see the time clearly as well! The display is huge so you don't need your specs to see it and I keep it dimmed which is perfect for me, as at full brightness it lights up the whole room. The buzzer is very, very loud but just having it on vibrate is enough to awake the heaviest sleeper, and having tried all combinations, I now only have it on vibrate - I put the vibrator between my pillow and pillowcase as our bed is an adjustable one with a slatted base. Some reviewers thought the buttons were hard to locate, but after a few nights, I have no problem at all now and can touch the alarm or snooze button without looking. I think it is well made, nothing has fallen off or come apart and since having it I haven't overslept once! Absolutely the best alarm clock I have ever had and I would recommend it 100 per cent.

Soy Sordo severo me gusto ese despertador tiene cable largo con vibrador que se ponen debajo del almohada vibra en aumento hasta mas fuerte y puedes configurar los minutos como 5 o 10 repetitivos que es SNOOZE hasta que te levantes ya levantado puedes apagarlo tienes que ponerlo el botón en OFF,puedes poner 24 horas o 12 horas, tiene un botón para poner la alarma 1 y 2 , tiene tres sonidos diferentes como pitidos y el nivel de volumen 1 a 10: al poner al diez es muy fuerte despertaría todos los vecinos o la casa, yo prefiero usar el vibrador debajo de la almohada sin usar el sonido para no molestar a los demás te despierta con ganas, puedes poner el botón sonido y vibrador: vibraría y sonaría depende del volumen que haya puesto ambas al mismo tiempo, poner solo sonido, o solo vibrador cual este mas a gusto para despertarte, no llegar tarde o faltar mi trabajo, es muy sencillo configurarla nada complicado, le serviría bastante para personas sordos que son leves, severos o profundas o que batalla para despertarse que usuaria vibrador debajo de la almohada, una desventaja tiene una pila 9 V atrás, tiene una función pone la misma hora cuando se va la luz ponen la misma hora y no te despertaría para levantarte hasta que regrese la luz te despertaría si es que no se haya pasado la hora del alarma esta es la desventaja tienes que poner un celular debajo del almohada o un adaptador que tiene pilas algunas para prender la tele a mi le molesta la luz de mi cuarto oscuro, sin la pila de atrás cuando se vaya la luz tienes que configurar todo nuevamente. Me llego bien el paquete protegido, lo compre 20 enero y me llego 31 de enero x envío gratis, estaba preocupado por las aduanas creo Iban incluidos que son $728.24 pesos en total tal como esta lo pague este precio. Ist sehr laut. Wenn man es nicht kennt, bekommt man schon einen Schreck. Aber so soll das in dem Falle auch. Also guter Wecker mit 2 Alarmen. Das mitgelieferte Vibrationskissen habe ich nicht ausprobiert.
