EVERY TRACK IS GOLDEN!

I must admit that I was NEVER a Rolling Stones fan! But The Beatles - I loved! They always looked nice, dressed nice and always looked happy; and I loved their music! I saw them live in NZ and currently have all their LP's, CD's, DVD's and movies PLUS all those of Paul McCartney and George Harrison! But The Rolling Stones, in my opinion, never really looked nice or dressed nice and never really looked happy! (I believe that if Brian Epstein had managed and presented them, as he did with The Beatles, then they would have been MUCH MORE popular than they were!) And their music - well the only song I really identified them with was "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" and to me that was quite 'mediocre' and I never purchased a single item of their music until 40 YEARS LATER! And then, about 7 years ago, I had the radio on and heard a catchy little tune which I remembered from the 60's but had rarely heard since then! I decided I needed it in my music library and waited to catch the tile and the artist! The song was "She's A Rainbow" and the group, to my surprise, was The Rolling Stones!!! I had always thought their music to be rather raucous and rocky, but this tune was certainly not that!! I then purchased a Rolling Stone double LP with "She's A Rainbow" on it, and from time to time over the last 5 or 6 years would play "She's A Rainbow" over and over a few times, more or less ignoring the rest of the tunes, as nothing else really appealed to me! Then a few months ago I figured that I should get a CD with tune on it, as it would be much easier to play the track over and over compared to an LP!! This is when I went to my favorite website to find a suitable CD and at a reasonable price! I settled on "FORTY LICKS" and have been very happy with the purchase! I have played the CD right through a number of times, and though She's A Rainbow is still my favorite, there are lots of other tracks that I am really enjoying!! The music is certainly NOT all rocky and raucous, as I had expected, and, if anything, even LESS SO THAN THE BEATLES! I would highly recommend this set, even if, like me, you are not a Rolling Stone fan, I'm sure you will find something you like, if you are interested 60's style rock music. I considerate it worth buying just for the track She's A rainbow" but there are many other ballad style tracks and 60's style rock music WELL WORTH LISTENING TO !!!!!

Purchased this to replace a lost set. Received within estimated delivery date, protectively packaged and in good order. Seems to be the genuine article. All tracks play nice and clear. Great album on CD, with plenty of fantastic tracks to suit most Rolling Stones fans. Very pleased and can recommend.

Fantastic collection for any Rolling Stones fan. I absolutely love this album it's well remastered and sounds Superb. I can't fault it. I recommend anyone who his thinking of buying this to go for it while you can and Play it Loud if possible. I know it's not that cheap but it's not easy to get a new copy. Great tracks, My favourite is Brown Sugar but all tracks sound awesome on my system. Don't hesitate get a copy while you can...

Diese Label-übergreifende Zusammenstellung macht die bisherigen weitgehend verzichtbar. 9 von 11 der Big Hits Vol. 2, 16 von 21 der Hot Rocks und 12 von 18 Titeln aus Jump Back werden berücksichtigt. Natürlich wird jeder gestandene Fan den einen oder anderen Titel vermissen. Details: Time Is On My Side, Heart Of Stone, Play With Fire und As Tears Go By fehlen ebenso wie ein Beitrag von Between The Buttons (Yesterday`s Papers oder Back Street Girl). Bitch, Hot Stuff und Respectable fanden zwar Platz auf Jump Back jedoch hier ebenso wenig wie der legendäre Stray Cat Blues. Entbehrlich dagegen das ebenfalls auf Jump Back vertretene Angie - doch, wirklich! Da wurde die Zielgruppe Sailing with Rod Stewart bedient. Das Album Goat`s Head Soup wäre mit Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) oder Star Star besser vertreten. Aus gleichem Grund wäre mir Memory Motel statt Fool To Cry von Black And Blue lieber gewesen. Persönlich hätte ich zudem mit Hinweis auf Jump Back Miss You und Emotional Rescue zugunsten von Some Girls und She`s So Cold weggelassen. Von den vier wohl als Kaufanreiz gedachten neuen Titeln hat nur Stealing My Heart die Klasse, in dieser Auswahl zu bestehen (ups, dünnes Eis!). Keiths Losing My Touch ist toll, hat aber hier genauso wenig zu suchen wie Don`t Stop und Keys To Your Love. Fazit: Diese Doppel CD ist bei allen empfundenen Mängeln die bislang beste Compilation und ein heißer Kauf. Wer noch ganz ohne Best of Stones ist wird allerbestens bedient. Ärgerlich bleibt, daß die Welt die maximale Laufzeit einer CD der Vorliebe der Japaner für Beethoven verdankt. In diesem Sinne: Happy Birthday!
