Great as Main Router or as a Backup
With 4G coverage becoming more and more prominent. Decided to switch our Rural BT Broadband over to a more modern alternative. Speeds before were 4Mb/s down and 0.3Mb/s which are better than some but not good enough in a remote working scenario! Tested in two locations as my internet in the City was struggling with load. Worked very well using stock antennas getting speeds of 30Mb/s down and 20Mb/s up enough for 5 people Zooming, watching videos etc.. This was quickly setup without line of sight to a tower as a temporary connection in a heavily congested area. Then fitted in Rural area using a QuMax Wireless antenna from wireless instruments to give speeds of 28.7Mb/s down and 9.7Mb/s up (sometimes reaching 20 dependent on load). Compared to the previous BT line much more reliable and speedy. However there is a slight latency increase but this is of no fault to the product. The actual unit is very well made and comes with features you would expect for the target market such as built in Passive PoE (different to the standard 803af PoE - be weary) which I used to power the router over a cable run of approx. 100m outdoors. The router is also feels solidly made with an aluminium enclosure however the SIM card did jam for me at one point meaning I had to take it apart due to it being knocked out of place by the force of lifting it up. Overall a really nice router compared to the other stuff you can get.

Bought to replace 4GEE home route but was worse
Bought this with high expectations - I have been after an affordable router that offers features not available on the 4GEE home router (e.g. L2TP) to use items that don't work with CGNAT issues with UK mobile broadband. All set up but was only able to achieve speeds of c10meg when I'm used to getting 50+meg with the old EE router. Wifi signal range is also not as good as the EE router (router has to be upstairs for max signal strength). Tried with an external aerial which also didn't work. Pros: Small, easy to set up with all the features I was after. Cons: Poor wifi coverage and not as good as the bog standard 4GEE router. I persevered trying to make this work as I really wanted it to however... no joy. The hunt continues for a suitable router so I can use my Nest and Philips Hue!

Very, Very Impressive Unit...
After lots of research hunting for a compact 4G router for use in a motorhome being setup for a long duration trip, I bought this unit and was immediately impressed with the professional-grade build quality and the truly stunning feature set. I've had experience with lots of standard domestic grade WiFi routers from the usual manufacturers and thought that the RUT240 would be just more of the same. I found the RUT240 extremely easy to configure and keep on finding features that I had only seen before in very high end network products. You really do not need to be an expert User to get this product quickly connected; the setup wizard does a great job in guiding Users through the stages and within a couple of minutes, I was connected to the EE mobile network and getting emails. Then, if you want to finely tune the configuration, there are a wide range of options that are all very accessible and backed up with great documentation in the online wiki. Changing to another mobile network operator is really easy by just swapping the SIM in the externally accessible carrier and then running part of the setup wizard. Within minutes, I was connected to the Vodafone UK network. The RUT240 event and system logging support is excellent and can be a great help in resolving connectivity and other issues. One really neat feature is the digital Input/output port that I will use to connect to vehicle alarms/sensors etc., so that I can get an email/SMS if there is an issue with the vehicle when I am away. Happily, the quality of the documentation matches the professional quality of the product. This whole experience with the RUT240 has been exceptionally good and I would have no hesitation in buying more for other 4G router. applications.

Old technology, overpriced
This item is old technology, at this price point it should be Cat6 4G/LTE , it is only Cat4 AND it is only 2.4Ghz WIFI, 802.11b/g/n. At this price point WIFI should be 802.11b/g/n/ac (2.4Ghz AND 5GHz) Purchasers of this router will NEVER be able to take advantage of full 4G/LTE speeds because it is not technically capable or designed to do it, I returned the item because it is not made clear that this is old tech. Testing at home in a strong 4G area, my phone reaches download speeds of 80Mbps, when I use my phone as a hotspot to my MacBook, I can connect at 5Ghz and achieve similar download speeds of 80Mbps over my phones hotspot WIFI. Carrying out the same test with my sim in the Teltonika router I was only able to obtain download speeds of 20-30Mbs, the reason is twofold, the router is not Cat6 4G/LTE and is only 2.4Ghz WiFi. Any newish phone will achieve much faster speeds as a hotspot and If you have expectations of getting similar performance out of this overpriced old technology router you will be severely disappointed. Buyers should be aware that claims made for the performance of these devices are only theoretical possibilities and generally actual performance is much much less than you may expect. In conclusion if you are looking for a 4g router which will perform as good as or better than a newish 4g/LTE cat6 capable phone with 80211b/g/n/ac WiFi (most phones now, my own phone used for comparison is a Samsung Galaxy S9) then this is not it. I have now purchased a TP Link MR 600 cheaper than this Teltonika unit and am achieving speeds of 80Mbps + it has 2.4 and 5Ghz WiFi capabilities and is overall a smarter better piece of technology, the ONLY positive about the Teltonica 4G-RUT240 its compact size. You can buy 4g routers with similar specifications to the Teltonika for around £60-80 or less. Unless you absolutely need the diminutive size of the Teltonika, there are much much better specified and performing 4G routers around for the money.

Not for the Novice
Anyone who bought this for home applications or to serve as a primary home wifi hotspot bought the wrong thing. It's really meant as a failover route in commercial applications. Or, as in my case, to function as a form of robust portable connectivity. I use this to be able to travel to any location and deliver training on a VoIP Telephony solution. And for this it is perfect. Worth mentioning I am using this with an A&A fixed IP sim with no NATing. Admittedly getting up and running with this router was not straight forward. The FW was out of date and updating the unit almost bricked it. After the FW update the webGUI stopped functioning. It took a very long winded factory reset attempt, which didn't actually reset the router, to get the webGUI back. The SLL cert for remote HTTPS access is invalid in all Chromium based browsers I have tried this with. Couldn't even get in on Chrome. Safari let me progress beyond the warning. It's not the end of the world but is a little annoying. Might put my own cert on to resolve the issue eventually. All this said, the "new" webGUI after upgrading is much nicer and easy to navigate. Everything is reasonably easy to find and configure. LTE connectivity just worked without any need for configuration. The wifi isn't the greatest but this shouldn't really be used as your primary wifi hotspot. Just in emergencies or temporary use cases. So the wifi is just good enough for this. One other thing worth mentioning is SIPALG is enabled by default and the parameter to disable it isn't at all obvious. If you are using this to provide connectivity to any VoIP systems then you will want to disable SIPALG. The required parameter is called "Automatic Helper Assignment" and is found in the Network > Firewall > General section of the webGUI. Took me a while to figure that one out as this functionality is usually more obviously labelled. Beyond all these nuances, the router is doing a brilliant job. With this you're getting all the functionality of routers twice the price, in a unit that is a quarter of the size. Very pleased so far. Knocked one star off for the FW faff and invalid cert. Recommend for the right applications. Make sure you know what you need before you buy.

Great connectivity
Works reliably and was easy to set up. Good signal strength even in rural areas. The eSIM feature is convenient and saves time. Compact design and runs stable with no dropouts so far. Great value for remote connectivity.

No eSim! Only one phisical sim card
2 star because the description is wrong. (Otherwise would be 2 star) There is no eSim functionality in the product delivered. Finally I can test it in the environment where I want to use it. Well turned out it is not worth the purchase. With outside antenna and with apparently good signal still no internet. My 7 year phone inside the van has internet. Slow but still has. i used the same simcard to make sure the test is accurate. The reason I bought it was not the speed gain as I know this is only cat 4. It was a more reliable internet in rural areas even it it is slower. Well forget it. Because of this I won't even think to upgrade to pricier Teltonika with 5G. It his one is so bad I do not want to waste even more money with them.

Glad i found this after messing about with WIFI extenders
Glad i found this after messing about with WIFI extenders I have a EV charger which is 30 meters from my house (and my home Broadband) which needs WIFI coverage. I tried a Netgear range extender first off - it made no difference whatsoever. I called TP-Link and asked them for advice, they said their Deco M5 Whole Home System would do the trick......it didn't. So, at this point I started to investigate 4G Routers but, i needed something industrial which could support cold weather conditions as it was going to be in a GRP enclosure all year round. Also, i only wanted to spend around the £100 mark ideally. This is where i came across the Teltonika RUT240 which i installed with a vodafone 2GB data only Sim card from my mobile phone provider. It was very easy to set up, and comes with a good set of written instructions. The only challenge i had is that it when i connected to the units set up back-end first time from a lap-top, it let me change the password but then i got an error message. I could not find a number for anyone in technical support to speak to but, there was a online form you could complete to request support, and so i did that. They called back about an hour later but, i had solved the problem as in the meantime i tried to connect to the units back-end via an Iphone and it went straight though and worked perfectly. I get a pretty good signal from the unit, I can actually use the WIFI from this devise back in my house (although i don't as this is only to connect the Wallbox to the IoT). What i like is that all the passwords, etc. you need are on stickers on the unit. So, i am pleased with the purchase and after all the messing around with WIFI extenders, i wish i had just done this in the first place.

Prodotto professionale
