Does it use solar batteries or just regular "AA"? If it uses solar batteries do they periodically need to be changed just as regular batteries do?

About every 2 years you will need to replace the batteries... they are solar. If you put regular AA batteries the solar power that normally charge solar batteries will build up and explode. Big explosion that will send shards flying and could kill someone or a pet.

Is there something to pin it down or hold it down?

The Angel Garden Statue can't be pined down.

Why is there an 'on/off' button? Don't you just leave it on all the time? I've left mine out for several full sun days but it only lights for 2 hours?

Please press and leave the button to “ON” position for charging and place it under direct sunlight for at least 8 hours. Solar light will work automatically, it will automatically charge under direct sunlight during the day time and illuminate at night.

Very nice angel. The orange color is that vibrant as depicted in the photo, and I'm not crazy about it, but gave it a 5 because its exactly as it looks in the photo. Not the sellers fault its too orange for me.
