Braun Silk-épil 9 9-561 Wet and Dry Cordless Epilator/Epilation with 6 Extras, White

This is my first epilator and I love it! On the first 2 or 3 goes, it hurt quite a bit. After that it was easy to manage and after a couple of weeks, I fet no pain anymore. I found that the purple cover gave me more confidence whilst I learnt to use this and trust it. When I made the leap to use the plain white cover, I was surprised that it didn't hurt at all. When epilating my legs the epilator isn't able to pinch me (I have even pushed it down and I don't tense the skin). In areas like my armpits where the skin is thinner, it can pinch but it won't if you just pull the skin tight with your other hand. The speed adjustment really helps if you're nervous about using it as it does hurt less when you are getting used to the feeling still. I find that it takes slightly longer than shaving my legs but the results last much longer. I used to shave every 2 days to avoid stubble but now I epilate once a week. The hairs on my legs and pits are much thinner and my bikini line doesn't grow as much hair as it used to. I LOVE that I can use it in the bath. It still works very well in there and cleaning it is super easy since I can use water. At first I wasn't interested in the razor attachment but it has come in handy. It's especially useful if you've let an area grow out because shorter hair is easier to epilate. I haven't used the face attachment as I don't trust it and also don't need it. If you are a beginner to epilating like I was, I totally recommend this one! It has a few ways to make the experience less painful when you start and you have a lot of control over how you do it. After a very short while you get used to the pain and don't really feel it any more. I researched this a bit and I don't think there is a better one out there for beginners! Just remember to look up some tips, and exfoliate after! I don't see myself returning to shaving again :)

Brilliant product and a great price on amazon. After a year and a half the shaver head needs replacing but generally great quality and no issues with the epilator head. I have used both wet and dry and prefer dry, it is quite hard to get close epilation in the shower, but if that's what you want, you can certainly do it. My only worry when I got it was that it does not work when it is charging, however so far I have not run out of battery when using it even when doing full legs plus other areas. I clean and charge it after each use and looks like it will last me as long as my very old, corded silk epil that I got when I was 14 and is still going. I just wanted an upgrade and I certainly got one as it is much quicker, painless and more efficient than my older model.

I bought this 2 months ago, and having never used a epilator in my life before now it did take me a while to get used to hence me only just feeling like I can write an honest review. It arrived very quick in small box and in perfect condition. I can't compare this to any other brand since this is the first epilator I've tried, but it's great for me because it charges in only 1 hour. It's very quick to use (not included the 1st epilation) and can be used in the on wet or dry hair. It's small and perfectly shaped to grip whilst using. I love the little light which automatically comes on when you start epilating so you can see where exactly which direction you need to glide the epilator in. I bought this because I plan on going backpacking soon and shaving daily is a nightmare and I didn't fancy having to wear long trousers or skirts in order to let the hair 'grow' whilst trying to co-ordinate waxing appointments. First of all let me tell you my pain threshold I would say is average but I am black Caribbean so my hair is naturally very coarse and constantly prone to ingrown hairs and stubble rash - it sucks! I'm not gonna lie though, the first time I used this IT HURT! In fact, the first 4 times I used it it hurt like hell. And i'm talking screaming, gripping the epilator so hard my palms sweated causing it to slip out my hard. But there is a knack to it if you're patient enough this is how I got used to using this epilator: *Try using it on 4/5 day old hair. Some people say you should let hair grow 5mm, in fact the instructions say the same however I noticed it still missed a few hairs yet when I let hair grow to about 7mm it managed to catch on the little tweezers making it much quicker. *Do a little bit each week until you're used to the pain. I did a small section of my shin and either side on each leg first, then when I couldn't bear it anymore I stopped, shaved the rest and then the next week do a bit more, the shaved again. Eventually you get so used to it that the pain becomes less and less. After about 6 weeks I can do my entire legs. *Don't even attempt it when you're on or just about to start your period! It hurts even more than you would ever imagine! When I read this on the internet initially I thought 'yeah whatever' however, when I actually did this for myself I nearly cried. Your pain threshold is generally a lot lower around the time of the month. I try and get as much done the week after my period and its virtually painless. But if you really cant avoid that week then my advice would be a bottle of wine, paracetamol and a long soak in the bath first! *The first epilation is will always be the most painful and will take the longest! Get someone else to do it for the first time if you can. My friend got her sister to do her first epilation (only her legs/under arms!) and after that she was ok to do the next one herself without as much pain. If you wax normally then you also should be fine. Reason being hair grows in phases. If you normally shave then your hair grows back at roughly the same rate so that's a lot of hair to epilate in the first attempt, but if you wax then you wont have as much hair to epilate at any one time. *Legs are the least actually the least painful so start with that first. I found my bikini line was a bit more painful but more tricky to do so be patient. Under the arms are the most painful - I actually drew blood here the first time I used it here and so haven't yet been able to do my whole underarm as of yet... In summary, I'm pretty happy with this. I only gave it 4 stars because of the pain and the price - it is pretty steep so you need to know you'll use it long term! I plan to keep using this for the foreseeable future now. I can't believe how much easier it is compared to shaving. In 10 minutes my legs can be hairless for the rest of the week. I take that over daily shaving any day.

I am a waxing and epilating virgin. Always just shaved for quickness however as you know that gets a little tedious especially in the summer months when it’s every second day! So I thought I would be brave and invest in an epilator, after reading through loads of reviews to choose the best product as well as getting value for money I chose this the Braun silk epil 9-561. First of all really speedy delivery thanks amazon! Secondly WOW - so yes I do have quite a high pain threshold, however I have just epilated my legs and bikini line with virtually no pain at all. And remember this is my first ever time (no waxing or epilating previously). Still to try on my underarms as I am a little more nervous about that 😬 Also they are not lying when it says the 40 tweezers catch even 0.5mm hairs. I only shaved on Saturday morning, it’s now Monday evening and my hair does not grow that quick lol! But still managed to get all the stubbly bits from my legs! Honestly I am so so pleased I invested in this. Yes it’s pricey, but you really get what you pay for! It was this one off payment or month after month paying for waxing at a salon! Now I am super excited as I have a 3 week sunny beach holiday to look forward to, with smooth legs, bikini line (& hopefully underarms when I get brave!) yay!

I am a TOTAL convert. Before buying this I had never used an epilator, and now I'm almost sorry it's taken me so long to discover them. Yes, it does hurt. Of course it hurts a bit - you're plucking hair out of your body. But actually it's nothing like as painful as I anticipated. If you have a low pain threshold, just have a glass of wine before your bath or shower (definitely don't use it dry the first time) and get to work! It can take a few passes to get all the hair, but generally speaking all that's left behind are very very short (less than 1mm) or very fine hairs, and those will be nabbed next time I use it. The instruction booklet provided is very clear and informative, which is unusual if I'm honest! Indispensable. I didn't completely register this when I bought the product, but it also comes with a shaving and trimming head which is also wonderful. It's easy to use and easy to clean. Honestly I can't rate it highly enough. I 100% recommend this product. Please note: the charging cable has an EU plug, you WILL need an adapter to use this in the UK.

I wish I’d got the model up with the exfoliated head. That aside, it removes daily short hairs. But still leave a stubble you can feel on your skin. I like waxing, this epilator doesn’t give you smooth skin for weeks. It’s turned out basically just to be a regularly required alternative to regular shaving. Not what I’d hoped.

I gave this as a present to my wife and she is really impressed me with the results and versatility of the Braun Silk-epil 9. Her review of the product "This model has a wider head with 40 tweezers and therefore it gets the results quickly. I can epilate both legs in less than 5 minutes. It is simple to use and I like the light on the model which acts like a headlight and helps show up areas I need to work more on. The pack has 6 heads including the main epilator head with rollers, a shaver head and two other epilator covers, one for small areas. The roller head was much more comfortable to use compared to my old Series 1 version. I guess this may be due to the massage rollers. My legs were still tingling for 15 minutes after use but it was not painful. Two important factors for me are minimal skin irritation after use as I have sensitive skin and I found that my legs were a little spotty after use for an hour. This surprised me as I had been epilating for years. I will always try and use in advance of going out. Also long lasting effects with minimal hair ingrowth is important. I have suffered with ingrown leg hairs from waxing and epilating previously. This model claims to get the hair 4 x shorter than waxing and I have found that my skin certainly felt smooth straight after use and the effects lasted well for a week without even considering reusing. As the model can be used wet or dry I have tried it in and out of the shower and found there was not a huge difference in use. The handy thing in the shower is you can clean the epilator easily after use. Pros: Quick and efficient to use"

I am not big on reviewing but just had to let those of you out there that need help know that this is the BEST hair removing product I have EVER used. I learned of it by chance visit to [...] I just wish I had known about it sooner. Over the years I have tried IPL, older epilators, NO NO -latest 2016 model, waxing, cream, plucking shaving etc etc and have just resorted to shaving and plucking, not now though, the Braun Silk Epil 9 9561 is simple to use and easy to work out how to use. I have hair that wants to stay put (beautician refused to wax me a second time), my hair is also very fair (poor for IPL laser), strong, long and lots of it. Using the Braun was not nearly as painful as expected (though under arms, behind knees & bikini line, had to grit my teeth). I manage my whole body (legs, arms, face, bikini & I'm not small!) in one session & single charge with charge to spare and very quickly (I use dry, haven't bothered to try in bath). I can't comment yet on long term regrowth - supposed to weaken and lessen growth over time, but the immediate regrowth is excellent, much slower than shaving, skin is really smooth and regrowth when it appears is softer. I had little pink dots round hair follicles for an hour or two and using, a few in delicate areas for 24 hours but other wise no skin damage. Any regrowth, a quick whizz and it's done. I can't recommend highly enough. Not had long but hope to review this to say if it stays fault free and is durable (also if any sign of slow down in hair growth, finer hair etc). I know not all products suit all people, but if you get the chance give it a try, I highly recommend it.
