Used with cherry blocks so did not use the lid but have since tried with charcoal in the gas BBQ For a slight flavour. Worked well.

Well the summer is here and in our house that means BARBEQUE TIME! Previously, when I've used woodchips, I've just used tinfoil scrunched into a tube with the chips in. This could get a bit messy and troublesome so I thought I'd give this a try. It's great quality stainless steel, quite thick, which means it should last many years. It's bigger than I anticipated and you may struggle to use it in some BBQ depending on the height available from your burner/coals to the cooking surface. Also, after experimenting a few times with the chips, I don't always need to soak them to get the right level of smoke. Indeed, sometimes it can be difficult to get smoke if you have soaked them at all, especially in a charcoal BBQ. Only lost a star because the size was a little too large in my opinion.

I don’t know how I managed without a smoker box! This is perfect for both gas & charcoal BBQs - it has been used every week since purchasing! From smoking a whole brisket to grilling a few kebabs where you want a hint of smokey flavour, this dies the job! For longer smoking, leave the lid off so you can add more chips/herbs as needed

Amazon asks me to rate is flavour? I admit, I've yet to eat it, so only 3 stars for the flavour of stainless steel. It does however smoke the wood chips very well and better than my existing cast iron one. The chips start smoking quicker.

Its built well enough however, if I was to buy one again, I would definitely look for one with a hinged lid to make refilling easier. I am not sure if it is the chips or this box, but the chips burn way too quickly. Again, that maybe the way I am using it. When it works, it works well :-)

You could go and spend £20-£40 and more on an item like this. It you can spend less then £10 and get the same results. Fantastic product. Well built and helps smoke meat brilliantly

Good quality simple straight forward product that helps eke out the life of your smoking chips rather than chucking them directly into the coals. The lid is fiddly to replace but there is a knack to it that isn't too difficult. A lot better when filled up entirely as the lack of air space minmises the likelihood of the chips catching fire. I have used this in my smoker barbecue and my standard gas fired one. Works well either way so long as you choose the right place for it, (i.e. not embedded in naked flames which will eventually cause the wood to ignite rather than smoulder).

Delivered in super fast time. The boxes are very cleverly angled off at the edge to create a "spring" type affect, this means that you just push the edge slightly in to hook the lid on. This creates a tight fit, so if you have to move the smoker around, the lid wont pop off. I use mine with a gas bbq and it nails it every time.

Je ne l'ai pas encore utilisé, mais pour le prix, au déballage j'en suis a priori content. Je suis incapable de dire si c'est chromé ou inox, de toute façon dans le barbecue il va souffrir. Le produite est conforme à la photo. Les bords ne sont pas soudés, mais ça se voit et pas utile. Seul point à vérifier à l'usage, c'est le ravitaillement : l'emboitement est assez serré, docn pas sur qu'il soit facile de rouvrir et remettre des copeaux. Mais le métal, ça se déforme si besoin ;-) Et au feu il va surement bouger, à voir. Pour le prix, j'ai tenté le coup
