Great product
Excellent product. I now own two, and am thinking of purchasing a third. The pen is very comfortable in the hand. The nib is accurate, and produces a consistent well-defined line. The inks (blue and black) are faithful, dry very quickly, and cover beautifully. The top "snaps" on tightly, preventing the ink from drying our. I am a "lefty", so smearing my work as I write has always been somewhat of a problem. This pen/ink combination keeps my writing smear-proof and professional looking.

Very nice fountain pen at a great price
I was at a local office supplies chain, (which shall remain nameless), looking for printer paper when I saw their large display of fountain pens. I decided that I'd like a Parker, with BLACK ink, so I took the display card up to the checkout so I could purchase one. The clerk comes back with the ONLY pen they had in stock out of about 40 pens on display. A Waterman with blue ink. I bought it anyway for $30.00. Took it home and decided to check Amazon and found this fountain pen set. Bought this set with a 5 dollar off coupon for $20.00, and took the Waterman back for a refund. When this one arrived, I put it together to try it and needless to say I was very impressed. It includes lots of ink refills in both blue and black. Also includes a converter cartridge to refill the pen with bottled ink if desired. The pen writes smoothly and comes with accessories that the more expensive fountain pens don't provide. I was so impressed with the Wordsworth & Black line of pens that I soon purchased another in green which includes extra ink cartridges as well as another nib. All in all I am very impressed with this line of fine fountain pens, and I highly recommend them over the more expensive name brands. As with anything, the brand name really means nothing but higher cost. These fountain pens are a great value, and work every bit as well as the expensive name brand pens.

Perfectly weighted and balanced
I decided to give myself the gift of a fine writing instrument, never having had a REALLY nice pen. Finally, the days of using only a cheap ball point are over. And I'm really happy with this. It's a beautiful thing in itself, and so well crafted. The box the pen arrived in has some bits of nice advice on it too, such as "Experience Fine Writing" and "Don't just write, create!" And it is an experience; I've had cheap fountain pens before, but never one so finely made. I like that one may use ink cartridges in it, or use the piston mechanism to refill the pen. It writes with a beautiful smoothness I'd never encountered in less well-made pens. It's also very nicely balanced. I wrote out dozens of holiday cards with not one iota of discomfort in my arthritic hand from the pen. A good pen deserves good quality paper stock to write on, and this is a good pen. Better papers make for better ink flow and smoother writing, so do invest in good papers as well. I say invest, because though this may not be the most expensive pen on earth, it's surely one of the better ones.

Great pen
This was my first fountain pen and I am so glad I bought it. It feels luxurious like it almost writes for you. The medium nib is not too big. I expect the fine nib would be excellent. I love the cap it has a really satisfying click to it. For me thought, the grip is just a to thin for me big hands. I gave it to my wife and she loves it. W&B if you are reading this, make one of these twice as fat and I'd gladly buy it.

Lovely pen, a little awkward to hold
First of all, this is a beautiful pen. BEAUTIFUL! Some reviewers have commented that the packaging is a little cheap-looking. I sort of agree. If I wanted to give this pen as a gift, I would carefully open the package, take the pen out of its nice velvet pouch, and remove the cellophane wrapping. I'd also ditch the cellophane wrap on the included 24-pack of cartridges. Then put everything back together, and you have a lovely gift that looks like it cost WAY more than it did. At nearly half the price of the other similar styles I considered, this is a real steal. The black with gold accents is gorgeous. I love the gold-tone engraved nib. So elegant! The cap seals with a satisfying snap. I've owned pens that had screw-on caps, what a pain! Well, that's nit-picking, I guess, but still, it's a feature I really like with this one. During use, the cap sits neatly atop the barrel. That's a given with any fountain pen, I suppose, but I should mention that at first it didn't seem to fit well. I found that I had to be a little firm in pushing it onto the top of the barrel, but then it stayed in place quite nicely. I am a little concerned that, over time, this may cause some damage to the barrel (scraping the finish, for example), but for now I don't see signs of damage. Time will tell. A fantastic feature is the dual-option ink supply. Other fountain pens have this feature, granted, but again, this pen is so much cheaper - scratch that, it's less expensive, there is nothing at all "cheap" about this pen. Anyway, you can either use a convenient cartridge or use bottled ink with the included doohickey that sucks up the ink. Cheaper (oh, that word again!) to use bottled ink, but the cartridges seem to hold a hefty enough amount of ink and you do get 24 of them included. Half black, half blue, a nice option if you want a change of pace. Unless you're manually writing your version of "War and Peace," I don't think you'll be using up all the cartridge ink in one sitting. It is nice to have the refill option, though, in case you've used up your last cartridge right in the middle of Chapter Five and you're on a hot streak. But on to the real purpose of a pen: the actual use. It glides over paper like melted butter. NO smearing, NO leakage, which I have found to be a real problem with other fountain pens I've owned. Crisp, clean lines. No annoying scratching of the nib against the paper, a real sign of a quality nib. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that, for some reason, the pen feels a little awkward in my hand. Maybe that's just me, I don't know. It certainly looks like every other pen. It's not like it's some weird shape. It's possible that I've gotten too used to the gel pens I also use a lot, and they have a fatter, rubber-coated area where you grip the barrel. Another possibility is that when the cap is stored atop the barrel, it creates a raised ring at just the point where the barrel hits the side of your palm. At any rate, it's a minor point, and in time and use I'll probably become accustomed to it and the issue will be moot. However, in all honesty, I have to include all my reactions to make my review meaningful. Bottom line: Buy this pen. Buy it for yourself, buy it as a gift, at this price you really can't go wrong. Best of luck with that novel!

UK Designed Quality Fountain Pens
In a world where communication continues to be “minimized” and abbreviated, it is such a pleasure to write with flowing fountain ink pens. Such thoughtful pleasure. I am so happy to have discovered the UK’s Wordsworth & Black quality pens (both fountain & roller ball). At a wonderfully reasonable price. They also have some excellent journals.

Nice design, works great
Nice design, weight and feel, getting a lot of ink for the price. Comfortable to write. It comes in a pouch, no gift/sQtorage box. So far, it works great.
