This is the ideal solution to making a quick perfect poached egg.
Thanks to all the other excellent positive reviews on this item I bought one and tested it this morning. My microwave is 900watts which is very powerful but I did what reviewers and the instructions recommend - one third fill both chambers with water - mwave on full for 60 seconds. Dropped just one egg into one of the indents. Microwaved full power 40 seconds. Tested it visually and it looked like it could use 10 seconds more. Did that. Result perfect - whites solid and no runny uncooked matter. Yolk was runny but not thin, just nicely runny thick which is the way I like it when boiled fried or poached. As I didn't need a poached egg at testing time, I popped the egg into a shallow pan of boiling water and cooked for one minute more to make it hard boiled and then used it for egg mayonnaise with pepper and chives. So that saved time and energy being 2 minutes 50 seconds and no shell to peel when cold. Compare that with 10 minutes boiling a hard boiled egg and you can see how this is a really great little method. Instructions say you don't need to prick the yolks with a pin. So I didn't ! And no exploding egg pebble dashing the microwave innards either! Full marks for this device.

A joy for impatient singletons like me.
I LOVE this item - but with a particular ISSUE that I will cover below - poached eggs on toast in under 2 minutes GREAT!!! The features listed above I rated as follows: "Easy to clean" - I took this to mean on the INSIDE and, as I apply a light coating of oil onto the inside of the "cups" before each use, then the residual poached egg come off pretty easily. "Sturdiness" - this IS for sure because I have arthritic hands and have dropped this unit a few times with no damage (fortunately whilst it's been empty lol). Now for my ISSUE "Easy to remove" - I have interpreted this to mean removing the top half from the base. And I have to say, when you need to get your poached eggs out and on to your plate this bit is a nightmare. With the unit getting quite hot (obviously) forming a seal between the 2 halves and there is nothing to get hold of to remove the top. Although not a deal breaker -unless you have asbestos fingers, without using a thin blade removing the top half is a challenge to say the least. The top half could do with some kind of "tab" at 90 degrees to the flat to give something to get hold of (I'm going to put my 3D printer to use to see if I can sort this issue out lol). All in all the product works well - I reduce the cooking time slightly because I like my eggs soft and runny - but if/when I find a solution to the top removal I may well need to adjust my timing. This is a much better solution for cooking poached eggs than boiling copious amounts of water which just adds to the time (and cost) of preparing a "quick" snack.

Lid needs improvement
Poaches eggs perfectly takes a bit of getting used to but does the trick. The reason Iโve only given three stars is because the lid handles are too small and the lid is difficult to remove when itโs hot coming out of the microwave.

Great poacher, consistent in use.
I read some of the other comments, which were mostly positive, and thought I would give it a go. If you follow the instructions, it does what it is supposed to and you get a decent poached egg very quickly. It is also much less messy than trying to do it freehand in a pan of boiling water. With my microwave, I found that the egg needs to be done for slightly longer than the recommended time. The instructions suggest helpfully some element of trial and error and the extended time may be because I always use large eggs. Sixty seconds for the water (put it in up to about a third of the volume in both cavities) and then I do one egg (the missus doesn't like poached eggs and two for me seems a bit much on an ordinary day) for about 53 seconds. Yolk still soft inside and white mostly firmed up. You need to drain off the water or easily remove the cooked egg with a table spoon. It's not quite perfect poached egg but acceptable and quick in the time it takes to make the toast. It's also easy to wash up afterwards since the egg white residue is minor and not very tenacious.

Cheap, useless rubbish
Stinks of plastic when used. Canโt get the top off (when used) built in handle is so small you canโt get a grip. After the third time using I had enough

Quick and works really well
Dead easy to use - works really well, and quick. Good results but sometimes the egg sticks a bit to the plastic making them hard to clean properly. You need a good fine-bladed spatula to get the eggs out cleanly though.

heated the water like it said - no I did NOT need a ...
Exploding eggs? Lid sticking? Difficult to clean? What ARE you doing with it? I was almost put off buying this going by some of the reviews but the truth is, this is so simple to use and it does what it says - it cooks poached eggs! I read the instructions, popped the poacher into my (1000W) microwave oven, heated the water like it said - no I did NOT need a line to tell me what 1/3 of water looks like, I used my BRAIN - and then dropped the eggs into it and cooked it for 45 seconds just like the instructions said. The result? No exploding eggs, no lid sticking, no problem cleaning it (*it's called a sponge, try using it*) and perfect cooked eggs. This little gadget is just great.

Nice eggs
I read other reviews in this product before purchasing it . Some said product was great others were less then impressed. I idea was great poached egg in a micro wave how cool is that . I've used it to poach a few eggs already without any problems. But adjusted the cook time slightly according to the size of egg and how well hard you like them. Have found 45sec is perfect for medium eggs however smaller eggs only need 40 secs for a soft poached egg and 50 secs for a soft poached large egg. And for those out there that said their eggs burned I would like to point out that a standard bench Mark for a microwave power is based on an 800w unit. If you have a higher powered microwave then you should either adjust the cook time or reduce the power accordingly . I had no problems cooking 8 perfect poached eggs .
