... out others from the library to look for a good intro to safety book for my 3 year old ...
We have purchased several books and checked out others from the library to look for a good intro to safety book for my 3 year old and this is my favorite. This introduces safety tips, such as simply crossing the street, yet ranges to scarier stuff (without being scary) such as strangers, private parts, and more. It even broaches the subject of intuition and having a bad feeling which I think is important. Very age appropriate for 3+ or basically whenever you can have a conversation with your child. I also appreciate that it shows different genders and ethnicity. The illustrations are modern enough as well. The affirmation of, "I can be safe" is helpful. I will say though, not one book is enough, but this one is still top in my opinion. I highly recommend reading multiple books because it gives you a more well rounded approach to conversations of safety with your child. Another book in particular I recommend is "Amazing You."

one of those books that just clicks
My four year old son and I love this book. It introduces many different aspects of being safe and provides questions for you to start conversations with your child. I was looking for a book about "stranger danger" and this book was just enough to start those discussions. I also liked how it explains the nature of our body and how it warns us about danger, yet sometimes it's ok to try something you feel afraid of, like a roller coaster. This book is more than basic "safety" and I totally recommend it!

Good beginning concept for child safety
This is the world we live in and it gives a platform to teach these concepts to kids. We have to do this as we live in a world full of all types of people. It teaches kids to respect and understand intuition ( without using this word), and to get away from bad situations. It's a smartly written book. You will not regret your purchase.

It was a great way for them to remember what our lesson was ...
I bought this as a supplement for a safety unit I presented to elementary students. It was a great way for them to remember what our lesson was about. It's simple and gets to the point. I read it to K and 1st grade classes. They liked it.

My kid likes it but I wish it covered more
My 3.5yo daughter really likes this book and asks for it regularly. The book doesn't reference 'tricky people' which I'm fine with but it talks about gut feelings, about not letting others touch parts of your body covered by a swimsuit, says it's ok to yell or kick adults who make you feel unsafe etc.I wish the book talked about not leaving places with people your caregivers hasn't said you can leave with. I wish it talked about what kind of people to seek out if you get separated from your adult - security, police, moms with kids. Or suggested making a plan with an adult on what to do of they get separated (e.g., kid stays still, adult looks for kid) I wish it mentioned that just because an older kid is telling you to do something, that doesn't mean it's safe.

Great book to teach preschoolers about being safe!
Great book to teach preschoolers about being safe!

Good basic book about general safety
Book doesn't go in depth about specific topics, rather it skims over different issues that may come up. You will have to discuss safety in more depth with your child. Overall, a good way to bring up the subject.

Good American Children’s safety book
Very good book, explains things very well, but some words and emergency numbers are in American, so only applies to children living in America !

Not your typical stranger danger book.
Highly recommend this book. Deals with all kinds of safety, not just "stranger danger".
