Is the whole unit waterproof? Can I take in in the sea, like right in?

It does not appear to be waterproof. The back of the head is attached with screws. The directions say "always keep the thermometer head away from direct heat or cold."

I'm looking for a quality probe for measuring running water from taps. Is this product suitable for it? If not, can you recommend an other product? Thanks.

I have used this probe for cooking and jam making. Jam making is very hot and steamy and I have used the probe hanging over the side of the pan with no obvious problems. As an engineer I would have no problem using this probe for measuring running hot water, best check what accuracy you need though as I suspect this one will be something like plus or minus a few degrees but the spec should tell you that.

Can it be used to check hot oil for eep frying
