I started on 1.5 I now use a 2.5-3 Great reeds, best I've found yet

I know I liked the sound of V16:s when I have had them before, some years ago, on both alto and tenor, They have an edge to their sound that i liked then, but after that I have mostly been using Vandoren Java 2½ and when I saw this low price (they were at half price I later realised) I jumped at the opportunity. They were sitting on the shelf for a while before I tried them (and by that time it was too late to return them) and as I trusted Vandoren, I had no hurry. However, when I tried them, they seem to be more like 3½ when compared to the Vandoren Javas that I still had (and the stiffness also varies a lot between reeds). So I suppose these simply were stamped incorrectly. But of course this should have been advertised, and it was not. To make them playable I now have to sand them down, thus losing the character of the particular V16 brand, and even though this will make them playable it means more work and that I lose the V16 sound.
