tasteless
I bought this with hope of having a strong flavor and taste and color as opposed to teabags. I got disappointed it's totally like a regular teabag. you have to put twice as a good tea to come up with the same color, and at the end it doesn't taste like tea.

don't like Barooti as much
The Gulabi Barooti tea arrived well. I like the Gulabi Kalmi. The Barooti is finer cut and was not as strong as the Kalmi. In the future, I will make sure it is Kalmi before ordering.

Hard to drink plain but an excellent tea for use with a samovar.
I bought this tea at a local Russian deli with the intention of using it for a samovar tea. It's very strong and is difficult to love by itself -- it's not one you would drink black for pleasure as you might a Yunnan golden bud or Keemun or other fine black tea. However it works perfectly as a samovar tea, as it quickly makes a very strong zavarka (tea concentrate) that one can then dilute to taste with the water from the samovar. Furthermore, if you let the zavarka simmer for a few hours, or sit for a few days in the fridge, the sharper notes smooth out into a very pleasant tea. It also blends well with a pinch of lapsang souchong for a good home-blended Russian Caravan tea.

Wonderfully complex and stronger than my normal English Breakfast tea
Wonderfully complex and stronger than my normal English Breakfast tea. The aroma and taste are just so full compared to most tea (especially what can be purchased easily where I live. There are slight floral notes with a rich malt overtone. I bought this at a local specialty market on sale for $6.99 (normally $9.99). It is now my go too for morning tea.

My Favorite Tea
The Barooti Gulabi is a nice strong black tea. The flavor is robust but not bitter. As others have explained, the tea leaves are cut small and expand quite a bit once they are steeped in a tea pot. Some people who enjoy a less strong tea would be advised to use only two teaspoons in a two quart tea pot, but I use four because I like more flavor, though sweetened and whitened with half and half. Delicious!"Baroot" means "gunpowder" in Persia, and the BOP-sized tea is sold as "Barooti" meaning like gunpowder. "Gulabi" is a Persian word meaning "rose water." So Barooti Gulabi is like rose water, a sweet tasting tea, that will combust your natural spirit like gunpowder!

a fine finish, no bitterness or astringent notes
Superb black tea. Long notes, a fine finish, no bitterness or astringent notes. It is without a doubt the best black tea out there. forget Twinings English Breakfast tea--that stuff is just finely chopped regular tea that is not that good in the first place. With the fine mince, the tea becomes "stronger", but so too do the nasty notes at the expense of the lovely flavours we all seek in black tea.

Good tea
This tea is sold at a local market so i thought i would buy some. It is quite good. it brews very fast compaired to the Sadaf tea that i bought. Its a very pleasant Indian tea. the smell is quite pleasant. I ended up using 3 teaspoons for 2 quarts of tea so just a little bit of this tea goes a long way. Next time i will use 2 teaspoons instead.
