Setup and operation are difficult for a first-timer. The film carriers are klutzy. The manual is fairly useless. I just started pushing buttons until something worked. It needs an SD card to save photos. This was not explained. I had to discover it the hard way. It is supposed to be able to transfer photos over USB, but I never got that to work. Why am I giving it a five-star review? 1. It makes beautiful, perfect scans of negatives that are more than 50 years old. 2. The price is reasonable.

Out of the box this scanner needed a little tweaking in order for the negatives to fit. Once that was done the negatives slid in fine. The 110 negatives don't really fit the entire screen (top and/or bottom) missing from the picture but it is fine with pictures that don't fill the whole frame. Overall, it did the task I needed it to do, but just be aware that the pictures may be cropped.

This little scanner does a good job viewing/scanning negatives and that's primarily why I bought it. I have boxes of inherited photos, some with negatives and no prints, so this scanner lets me quickly see what the subject of the photo is to decide if I even want to keep it. If it's something I want to keep, it's a simple process to adjust color balance, brightness, contrast, etc. and then save a digital copy that can be shared online with relatives. My only complaint is in slide viewing/scanning. The slide carrier is just a little too loose, and instead of pushing one slide out with the next one, they tend to "stack up" in the carrier. Except for that one issue, I'm very pleased with the results. I'm only digitizing snapshots, though. If I was planning to print and frame a 11" x 17" I'd print it from the negative.

This little guy sets up easy. Insert you own storage disc, hit the on button, select the type of film/slide you want to copy, insert the photo/negative and press save. A 2 gig card held almost 800 shots. View them on the machine of take them on the card to your computer. Great photos in high resolution.

ALL LIKE = I have hundreds of 35mm negatives. This machine makes it so simple to transfer into an SD card then into your computer. There is an issue about sliding the negatives out the other end when done copying. But it's not the machines fault entirely. Negative films have sharp corners so it gets snag in the loading tray. Solution, cut the sharp corners of the negatives into a small half-round cuts to keep it from snagging in the film tray. Good Luck.

You need a SD memory card with this. I assumed you would be able to scan everything to a simple flash drive. I didn't read all the way down where it states you need the extra accessory to hold the photos. Then I am still not sure how you get the photos to your computer. The instructions are awful. I am a graphic designer and I had a hard time figuring this out! Have yet to see a photo on my computer screen... Once I do, it looks like the actual photo quality will be good.

This does take high quality pictures of your slides and it is very simple to use. I just wish the easy loading tray worked better than it does for 35mm slides. I believe you are supposed to be able to leave the tray in the machine and slide each slide in from the side and then as you slide the next slide in it pushes the previous slide out. I was never able to get this to work for me. So it was easier than my old wolverine where I had to pull the tray out of the device and open the tray which was tricky to begin with and then load the slide and close it up and insert it into the device. PAIN. With this device I was able to load slides easily from the right side of the machine. Just one at a time I would pop it in and then take my picture and then I would pick the device up and tilt it to the side and shake the slide out. Which was still faster than the older model wolverine. But not as efficient as if the tray worked like it should have.

Bought this to scan old slides our grandfather took back in the 1940s all over the world. A little slow to learn how to use, but then I'm 70 years old, an analog guy in a digital world.
