I bought the Minky Retractable Duo Reel Washing Line to make better use of my outdoor space, and it has been a great solution. The two 15 metre lines provide plenty of drying space for everyday laundry, while the retractable design keeps everything neat and tidy when not in use. Installation was straightforward, and the reel feels sturdy and well made. The lines extend smoothly and lock securely in place, making it easy to hang a full load of washing without worrying about the line sagging too much. We decided to buy this retractable washing line as a space-saving alternative to a traditional outdoor line, mainly for a smaller garden. First impressions & build quality It feels sturdy and well made, with a solid casing that doesn’t feel flimsy. The dual line setup is a useful feature, giving extra drying space when needed. Ease of installation Installation is fairly straightforward, but it’s important to mount it securely to get the best results. Once fixed properly, it feels stable during use. Line length & tension The 15m lines provide plenty of drying space. The tension is good when pulled tight, although like most retractable lines, it can sag slightly if overloaded. Ease of use The retractable design works well and keeps everything tidy when not in use. Locking the line in place is simple once you get used to it. Good product easy install

The old ones failed after about 3 years due to the tension blocks becoming brittle and failing, rendering the lines useless. This latest version has new, separate and slightly softer ones which should last ages. The rest of the system remains largely the same, which is good as apart from the failure issue, it is a really good set of lines. I highly recommend

Good quality item

This is the second of these Minky clothes lines that I have bought, with this one being a direct replacement for the first. The product is fairly easy to install if you can do a bit of basic DIY. Drill two vertically stacked holes in your wall, screw in the mounting post, and then slot the plastic housing containing the reel onto the top. Once in use, the clothes line is effective, you drag the end of the line over to your chosen attachment point, and then you walk back and wrap a section of clothes line around an oval shaped plastic retainer at the bottom of the reel housing, which keeps the line taught. What I found was that after maybe 3 or 4 years of use, the aforementioned plastic oval retainer became brittle and snapped off, meaning I could no longer anchor the clothes line. Apart from this issue, I had been completely happy with the product, so I chose to order the same again, as I already had the correct mounting post up on the wall. Taking the reasonable price into account, I felt that 3-4 years was decent value for the product. Plastic does become brittle and snap when constantly exposed to the elements, so you can't expect it to last forever if it's permanently kept outside. You could of course detach the reel from the mount (very easy to do, it simply slides on and off) and store it indoors or in your shed when not in use, which would no doubt prolong its life, although this would be a bit inconvenient.

Upgraded to this from a single retractable line and it has been great! Can easily get 2 loads of washing done! I used with telescopic poles to raise the washing. There are removable pins so that it can be brought in when not used. Have not had any concerns regarding the locking mechanism breaking as the material feels sturdy. The line itself is thick and easily wiped if hit by bird poo (speaking from experience). Only takes 2 screws to install and bracket feels well supported.

I had bought a cheaper brand of clothes line but when I put the clothes on the line broke very quickly. This line holds in place very well. During the spring and summer months, I thoroughly enjoy having my clothes out on the line It's a reliable, well-made product that not only serves its purpose but also brings a touch of nostalgia and joy to my home. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a durable and efficient outdoor clothesline.
