Great bit of kit!
I love it! I've always wanted to invest in a mixer like this and I'm glad I did. It's great! Motor isnt too loud and the 5L glass bowl is huge! Wasn't too surr about the cream colour when ordering but once I saw it I thought it allied fantastic.

Great mixer
I’m a professional baker, and my KitchenAid broke down right in the middle of a cake order. I needed a mixer quickly, and I’m so glad I chose this one. It’s more affordable than a KitchenAid but still an excellent quality product. It works really well and has been a great addition to my kitchen. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Amazing for an intermediate and beginner!
This is a very sturdy machine. I hope to enter GBBO at some point and this is my first expensive baking purchase (well, my partner kindly gifted it to me for Xmas as I got him a 3d printer - it's only fair ;) ) Firstly, this is a HEAVY piece of equipment. As I have joint problems with my back and hips, I usually ask my partner to help me lift it onto and off the counter. It comes with 3 attachments - whisk, beater (usually for heavy mixtures like cake batter and softening butter) and a dough hook. The clearance from the attachment to the bowl is good, it doesn't leave a massive gap at the bottom to ensure all of the ingredients mix well. Apparently I can buy extra attachments like a pasta cutter and mincer which attaches to the front but I haven't bought these so I can't comment on that. But it's good to know I can use that by buying an attachment rather than buying a completely separate machine! It also comes with a silicone spatula which is handy for scraping down the sides of the bowl. It also has a plastic cover which can go over the bowl whilst mixing. This cover prevents the ingredients from flying out of the bowl but also has a little door on it so you can drop extra ingredient in without the risk of dropping utensils in there whilst the mixer is on. The reason I am giving it 4/5 stars is because of the damn bowl!! Firstly, it is thick pyrex so it's incredibly heavy. Also for some reason, the plastic lock mechanism on the base of the bowl isn't actually attached or glued to the bowl. This makes the glass bowl spin freely whilst the plastic part is stuck in the machine (in the part called the bowl bayonet socket). To get around this, I have started putting the bowl on the mixer from the opposite side (not the side which has the lock symbol. This allows me to keep spinning the bowl until it eventually unscrews from the plastic base. I find that the plastic base usually gets stuck when I'm mixing with the dough hook or the batter 'K' attachment (basically any heavy mixture which 'pulls' on the bowl). I think I'm going to invest in the stainless steel bowl as it's getting pretty tiresome having to try to unscrew the bowl every time I make bread or a heavy cake. It's a shame because apart from this bowl issue, it is definitely an amazing piece of kit. It could definitely go head-to-head against a KitchenAid anyday (as long as you ignore the bowl issue!). It comes with a 5 year motor guarantee so you can be assured it will last a long time. I think I'm going to contact Kenwood directly and ask about the bowl. I've read some people have been offered a metal replacement for free so might have to enquire!

Robust, quiet, easy to use and a good price
I am not one for writing reviews much but have to say i am impressed with this mixer so far! I already had a Kenwood chef its 14 years old and going strong bought as my parents had got one as a wedding present in the mid 1970’s my dad finally replaced it with one of these style about 7 years ago and its more compact and quiet! So we wanted a cheaper mixer to take with us on holiday i looked at loads of cheaper options but some reviews suggested they didn’t last or not as robust so i had a search for these and was pleasantly surprised at the price a little more yes but for proven robustness and bonus to utilise tools across both my mixers i decided to get this mixer! I haven’t been able to fault it yet … its not overly heavy making it easy to move but robust (yes a little weight but i am happy enough with moving it around - even lighter if you move the glass bowl separately. I like the glass bowl its sturdy and slots into machine base with ease and easy to clean- i like that i can see the mix and what’s happening at the bottom of the bowl! The 3 tools provided (k beater, whist and dough hook) fit and remove either ease, the arm lifts and lowers but a press mechanism on the back -simple to use and glides with ease. You even get a small plastic spatula too! What surprised me most despite some indications to the contrary in reviews i had read, it is so quiet! I made soda bread this morning in less than 2 mins ready to bake!! To be balanced feedback if i were to have any criticism at all it was figuring out how to get the bowl lid on but its not rocket science it was just a bit tight to get on initially- now its fine (or i now know what i am doing - you have to line up the indentation in one part of the lid with the mixer’s arm!). It looks good and stylish! Hopefully will last as well as my and my parents other kenwood mixers if it does then the value will be fantastic!

Sturdy, beautiful , does the job
Why we bought it: We were looking for something which hopefully would last for a long time, so we were willing to invest a little more. So we decided to buy this because: 1.Wanted it to be from metal, 2. Be quiet 3.Manage heavy dough. 4. It was recommended to us over Kitchen Aid (also much better priced) . The product we received was with a glass Bowl and here are our observations: + All metal, beautiful + Manages air very well , does not overheat + Manages heavy dough + In comparison with my mother's Bosch and other mixers it is really quiet, exactly as expected + Excellent visibility because of the glass bowl + Fantastic speed control ! + Easy to clean - The power cord does not retract - The plastic thread ring broke +/- The glass bowl is heavy About the plastic ring problem. Those who buy the version with the glass bowl should have the following in mind. In order for it to be attached it uses a plastic thread ring as a medium between the cup and the base. You should be careful not to turn it too tightly because it is possible to break during operation. I knew that before receiving the product and was careful but to no avail. After the 7th use the bowl wouldn't come out. I poured some olive oil to unscrew it and after i got it out , the ring just shattered into pieces. Kenwood were very helpful (although it took them almost a week to respond) and sent me a replacement. Overall the machine is amazing and everything we wanted. If you want to avoid problems with the plastic ring - order the product with a steel bowl.

Lousy customer service - be warned
The plastic lid is ill fitting and moves up and down while the machine is operating It is noisy and frustrating and surely can not be correct I have been in touch with Kenwood customer service - that is a total misnomer! Still have an ongoing issue to try and get this sorted. I certainly would not purchase any Kenwood product after my current experience
