Great Timer for Water Immersion Heater
This is a great product, easy to install and a good price. But, if you have no electrical experience get an qualified electrician to do install it. The other thing to watch is the depth of the wall box and length of the two fixing screws, you can get a box spacer extension plate from Amazon, actually Amazon suggested this on check-out. Very easy to program and the instructions are well written in English. It works well with all the functionality required such as 4 on/off periods per day and an essential boost button. I am using it to heat my water during periods of low-cost electricity, with Octopus Go tariff, this is 12:30am to 5:30am. Having to do this as here in the countryside only other practical fuel source is Oil and the price has more than doubled as a result of the war in Iran. So preserving my current oil stock for as long as possible.

Good design, very pleased
Installed in place of a mechanical timer, to control an immersion heater. Installation very straightforward - just live and neutral for supply, live and neutral for load, earth continuity terminal provided if needed. Very simple to set up, thanks to clear instructions. I can just leave it switched off if relying on the boiler for hot water, or switch it on and the time schedule comes into operation for the immersion heater. Automatic switching between summer and winter time is optional, which is helpful because our Economy 7 electricity meter is permanently on GMT, as many are, so I want the immersion on GMT all year too. If installing in a place that is awkward to do the setting up (like an airing cupboard), you can connect it to mains power somewhere else to charge up the inbuilt battery and do the setting up, then it remembers all the settings when you install it (and any other time that the power is off for a while). A red light shows that the switch is connected to the mains and a green light shows when the load is switched on. The display lights up for a short while when you press a button, making it easy to read in a dark place. It's useful to have the "boost" button for 1 or 2 hours of power immediately. I only installed it yesterday, so can't comment on durability, but it seems well designed and ideal for the job, pretty much "fit and forget".

Great unit, good price
Good quality unit at a good price, simple to install although would recommend using an electrician if you have no previous experience. Comes without a backing plate although one is offered on checkout. This timer is designed to replace an existing fused switch hence no backing plate.

Good unit but screws too short
Easy to wire up and easy to program. Build quality and display are good quality - easy to read with a bright backlight when programming. Took about 15 minutes in all, including programming. Red light means it has power going in, green light means it's feeding power to the load. Boost and advance buttons are handy. Loses a mark as the supplied screws are too short to screw into the threads in an embedded metal back-box. It seems to assume the back box is surface mounted, which isn't always the case. Had to order a set of longer ones, 50mm which was inconvenient. I can't imagine a pair of 1/2 inch longer screws would've added much to the price!

Well made
Easy to install and good value for money. Fitted to an existing thermostat controlled immersion tank heater linked to domestic oil heating water heating boiler. Pays for itself at the moment with high cost of heating oil when providing hot water only. Sepperate terminals live and -neutral for input and output sides of the timer common earth point for both. Good instructions may need a spacer if tight behind the unit in its final position not needed for my installation.

Followi instrctions carefully and nsure power is off
Nice product with clear install instructions. simple repalcement and enables programming either to manage times of day or perhaps take advantage of tarriffs, Note there are two models one is a 24 hour system which menas the programs run every day. the more expensive model give you a 5 day + two oprion for weekend variation

Nice unit but need longer screws
This is a replacement for an older version of Timeguard timer which lasted 19 years. Updated version has simpler in and out terminals for live and neutral which enough space on the terminals to allow for spurs. Clear instructions and nice back lit display. My only gripe is the following: newer models have a slimmer profile from the wall surface. However, this results in more internals protruding into the recessed metal back box, I have had to purchase 10mm spacers in order to be able to fit the new item. Whilst I can understand cost and potential waste reasons for not including a spacer in the package, what has been annoying is not having long enough screws included. The included 35mm screws allow very little room to reach the screw holes in the back plate even if you arenโt needing to use a spacer plate. The screws from the old units were 65mm long! and are too long for the slim profile of the new unit. I feel that 50mm screws should be additionally included with the package.
