This stuff removed tar from beige carpets in my house. My cat came home cover in bitumen tar (the cold type tar you get in a paint can) and walked it through every room of my house ranging from light dustings of it to thick black drops.Ive used this before for cleaning glass objects covered in residue but didn't expect it to work as well as it did for tar stains on carpet. Dab some on the tar stain and let it soak for a few seconds then then keep dabbing with a clean rag/cotton bud and the tar breaks down and lifts off. Its time consuming but it's saved me having to replace carpets in 3 rooms and a staircase. You need to keep your windows wide open if using it indoors and do not light any flames when using it as it gives off lots of vapour but it evaporates fairly quickly and leaves no 'water' marks or discolouration behind.

What can I say - does exactly what it was designed to do

pure rubbing alcohol purchased to clean disinfect and kill any lingering bacteria on the seams of my 22 year old tent. The seam seals were failing, cracked and crumbling. The alcohol did a good job of drying out the soggy residue after removal of the old seam seal and also helps kill of any bacteria that might start to attach the new seam seal that I was planning to put on. It worked very well and the proof was in the absence of that musky damp smell that had been lingering about in my tent for so long. Was packaged well and delivered on time.

I wanted some pure alcohol as a volatile solvent to help with cleaning an inkjet printer. Locally to me chemists look at you like you are some sort of substance abuser if you ask to buy pure alcohol.I am very pleased wit this purchase. I did not need more than a half-litre. It has come in what feels to be a good quality plastic bottle - no glass to break in transit or in use, and was also placed in a zip-lock bag before being packed for despatch.Other than that I am not sure what I can say about it - it appears to be neat isopropyl alcohol, looks, smells and behaves like it (evaporates quickly leaving no obvious residue).It has been perfect for the purpose for which I bought it.I see some people asking if this is "rubbing alcohol". There is no single universal definition of "rubbing alcohol". In the UK the term "rubbing alcohol" usually refers to surgical spirit - which is not isopropyl alcohol, but is a blend of ethyl alcohol, methyl alcohol and usually includes some form of menthol such as eucalyptus oil. It can have a drying effect on the skin (when practicing karate in my youth I used it to harden skin on my feet, and knuckles).In US "surgical spirit" can be isopropyl alcohol but usually not this grade or form (usually denatured, and 70%) and also can be ethyl alcohol.Using this particular grade of IPA on skin as a rubbing alcohol can often create irritation.

Cleans off grease well. I often use methylated spirits instead as it's cheaper and is easier to get hold of. Does need a bit of care as it burns like petrol and is very bad if you get it in your eyes.
