Easy Gardener Ultra Edge Composite Landscape Edging (25 Year Edging) Brown, 3.5 Inches x 16 Feet

As edgings go this one works great. It is taller than most edgings (5.5" I think) and can be securely buried with only a few inches leaving a large portion above ground, invaluable for holding back several inches of rock or mulch in a way that edgings which only leave 1/2" above ground just can't. Alternatively you can bury most of the height and it acts as a great below-ground barrier against grass roots to prevent spread. If the grass roots go deep enough (or stretch tall enough) they can still go around any edging but this one helps far more than most. The composite material holds up well. If hit with a weed eater or a shovel it will gouge but still looks nice as a whole. When installing, the tight rolls can make it tricky to get a straight line. Follow the directions about flipping the roll backwards to get some of the coil out. Even better, lay it flat with weights on it for a day or two before install. We didn't have to use the provided stakes along the length of the edging. Once in the ground and tamped it didn't go anywhere. But the stakes are handy when going from one roll to the next to train the ends to overlap neatly and not shift.

BOUGHT 3 ROLLS OF THIS EDGING FOR MY DRIVEWAY AND FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO INSTALL. IF ROOTS ARE RUNNING UNDER WHERE THE EDGING GOES, THEY MUST BE CUT TO ALLOW THE EDGING TO BE INSERTED. WHEN MY LAWN PEOPLE STEPPED ON THE EDGEING TOP, IT SNAPPED AND SPLIT TO WHERE IT WAS NO LONGER USEFUL. Don't step on it or it will snap and split, then must be replaced at considerable cost. Waterproof though!

Was shorter than an alternative Ultra-Edge product I had bought at The Home Depot previously, so the value wasn't as good as I thought it would be... The product is fine, albeit expensive.

I'm glad that I chose this edging. It was inexpensive, looks really good, and was very easy to install. It does come tightly wound in it's packaging however, so I unraveled it and weighed it down (with books, cases of water) to straighten it and allow it to loosen up for 24 hrs. before installing. Then I cut it to size--again very easy--with a small hand saw. Instead of digging a deep trench as with traditional edging, I just took a small hand trowel (for gardening)and dug a small-- maybe 1 or 2 inch trench around the perimeter of the shrub bed. It helps a lot to do this a couple of days after rain, the rain softens the soil. Then I unraveled the edging and staked it using the included metal stakes. Easy. Took 15 mins. tops! I think it would be nice to have a few more stakes (it comes with 5) but other than that, I am very pleased with it. It looks great.

I used it to surround a tree. And put small flowers in the dirt. Cant put much dirt in it so plants should be small seasonal ones
