Is this pedal good to use as sold or do I need to buy anything extra to use (eg leads)? If so, what kind of leads do I need for this?

hi it will work of a 9volt battery pp3.but you can buy a transformer.you will need two jack leads one from amp to unit and one to the bass. make sure to remove after plaing as these will drain the battery.note battery lives under the black rubber /metal cover access via the small knob at bottom of the unit.if you buy a transformer it plugs into the top a small round hole with a pin in the center .plug in and play.bake sure you get the correct unit,a good guitar shop could help.ok have fun.

Is this worth getting to use with the katana 50? getting a bit fed up with the boss sound studio. thanks

I use a Boss DS1, and a JoYo AC tone straight into the clean channel on a Katana 50, and the sound is truly awesome. In my opinion, two must buy pedals for great and versatile rock tones. And they're both cheap!

do you have to have a valve amp?

I don't know the difference between a valve amp and any other amp but my pedal works fine on a fender frontman 15G amp that isn't special or different so I think it should work on any normal amp

does it work well with 7+ string guitars cos some pedals make it too muddy on the deeper end.

Boss make some really good pedals, your seven string should be fine. look up seven strings with this pedal on youtube dude
