does what it says but make sure you're prepared
first: this dye did the job on the item i was dying. the yellow colour was strong and bold and looked great. HOWEVER: before you grab this thinking it'll just be a quick and easy dye job let me tell you how you're meant to dye polyester: you need a big pot (3 gallons of water per pound of fabric) that you bring up to just below boiling. then, while wearing rubber gloves, you pop in the dye and the item you want to dye. now it's only half an hour of constant stirring and agitation to make sure that the dye gets everywhere and gives an even, consistent result. now that you're done with that, you need to rinse out the garment somewhere (please note a lot of dye will rinse out with this and may stain things) and then wash it (again more dye will come out) and finally hang out to dry. don't forget to dispose of the massive pot of water and dye somewhere (more stain warning). and, from what i understand, you can't use the pot for cooking again after this so unless you're doing a lot of dying (maybe you're a cosplayer and make lots of costumes), consider it an extra cost, and big pots aren't that cheap. if you absolutely must dye synthetics then do your research before you commit. there are some extra costs and mess and you may just want to stick with what you have, or buy a new one in the colour you want. but if you're determined or have no other option then this dye will do you well. just make sure you know what you're doing before you start.

Thank god I found this!!
Needed to dye a polyester silk dress from ivory to pink. Tried 3 Dylon pods knowing that it wouldn’t be that intense a colour but it didn’t take at all. Came across this dye but was worried about the stove stop method as the dress has some bead detail on and I didn’t have a pot large enough. So I took a gamble. Poured the dye into the empty Dylon pods and put it on an intensive 3hr 90 degree wash. Have never watched the washing machine so intently but it only went and worked and looks stunning!!!!! NB I used 2 bottles of dye and made sure I put my washing machine on a clean drum cycle after. And yes I will steam it once dry to get out the creases

FIRST TIME USE - BLACK dye on polyester fabric
Only gave it three stars as it my first time using....not sure it was a great choice for my purpose as it was supposed to be able to dye polyester black...followed the instructions but came out pupley blue although not black still a nice colour. I may try again with different fabric to see if there's a different result?

Rit Dye for Synthetic Materials
I bought the Rit Dye More Synthetic in Royal Purple for £8.49 and it did a decent job on a polyester blend top that had faded. The colour came out rich and even, though you do need to follow the instructions carefully and keep the water hot the whole time, which is a bit of effort. It’s not something you can just throw in the washing machine. Still, it’s great for giving old clothes a new life or covering stains. Overall, it works well if you’re patient and don’t mind a bit of mess in the kitchen.

It works very well
It works very well. I used it on polyester fabric, which was blue, so wasn't sure how the colour will turn out, but I am quite happy with the effect. The dye was easy enough to use.

We used this fabric dye to dye a homecoming dress that was a polyester blend. It worked perfectly! My daughter could not find the homecoming dress she wanted in purple, but they had it in ivory. We dyed the dress, checking it every 10-15 minutes. I was afraid it would come out muddy, because of the ivory base, but we were able to achieve the perfect shade of lilac!
