Makita DMR104 DAB Job Site Radio, No Batteries Included

I wanted this product for all its positive features but was worried by the excessive bass reviews. Yes, some bass/treble control would complete this excellent product but do not be put off, radios at full volume generally have issues somewhere. I use this radio inside and outside at reasonable levels, on both FM and dab, I have found that it has made all my other radios redundant. Even a good music setup, moved from one room to another is not missed as I occasionally drop this radio into the the vacated position .I didn't think a radio of this this weight would be at risk by my other half, but its too big to hide and I keep having to ask for it back. Fortunately I have populated the 5 presets on the three bands and can easily tune away from radio yuck

Bought this for my husband who's a builder. Chose this one because although it doesn't have an iPod dock, it has DAB radio which is more important to him. He can still plug in his phone/iPod through the aux jack at the front of the radio. Be aware that it doesn't come with a Makita battery, nor does it charge batteries, but you can power it from your Makita batteries. I knew all this so I'm giving it 5stars based on the sound quality, and it doing what I wanted it to.

OK, it's not cheap, but if you're looking for a radio that is robust enough to stand up to knocks, dust, damp and is loud enough to hear outdoors and over tools, this is a great device. Bought it for my wife to use in her stables after several disappointing fails with more lightweight devices. No complaints, which says more than I ever could. Oh, and it looks pretty cool.

Like other buyers of this item I asked for a replacement when I discovered the aerial was missing. After printing the return label I discovered the aerial attached and inside one of the box flaps! Totally invisible until you pull the flaps completely open to get the radio back in for return. The sound is a bit basey as other people have mentioned but I quite like that. But tone control would have been nice. It has far more volume available than I expected, ear defenders would be needed for full volume indoors. Very solid construction, good sensitivity on DAB. It tuned in about eighty stations. Not so good on FM but the reason I went for DAB was I expect FM to disappear within five years. One star off for the stress of "trick" packaging and lack of tone control.

Excellent bit of kit, don't think just buy. You will be happy, it's rugged, sounds great, goes loud and does digital. Yup, it's a little bit on the bass heavy side, but this is for in the garage - when you're washing the car or drilling something. You just need loud, clear and tough, and this is all three.

Great product..Great sound.sturdy housing and clever battery compartment.You do need to hunt down the little aerial which is packaged in the handle of the box!Don't chuck the box till you fitted the aerial!

Great to listen and hear clearly what's on one of many great radio stations whilst working, without constantly having to buy and replace batteries - wish I had bought one years ago.... I keep it well dusted and its like new after being well used.

After hearing these radios on site for many years, I finally gave in to the self indulgence and expense and bought this DAB version. Big mistake! I didn't notice that the speakers on this model are smaller than the FM version. This makes the sound quality abysmal compared to the other models. The speakers are too small to handle adequate volume and bass and distort to a cringeworthy level when not particularly loud. I would have expected the latest DAB to have the optimum level of technology to at least equal Makita's other supposedly lesser range. I suppose the clue is in the lower £99 price tag. This one is going to be exchanged for a different model unfortunately. I dread to think what the return will cost me. So to those reviews on the other models regretting and not realising that theirs is not the DAB version, think yourself lucky.

Habe gehofft es hätte einen besseren Empfang mit dem digitaler Technik

Ich muss mich der Ausführung meines Vorgängers anschließen. Dieser DAB Radio funktioniert in Deutschland nicht. Dies wird in der Artikelbeschreibung in keinem Wort erwähnt! Habe ihn als Weihnachtsgeschenk für meinen Sohn gekauft. Bin ja mal gespannt ob die Rückgabe ohne Probleme funktioniert.

Habe das Gerät auch gerade wieder eingepackt, da DAB nicht funktioniert. Schöner Mist.

Kein DAB in Deutschland. Teueres UKW Radio. Zurück geschickt.
