Seems great
I chose this because I need to get fit. I was looking into fun ways to do this and came across weighted hula hoops. I briefly considered one of the wavy non-padded ones but quickly decided against it because I heard the bruising from it was horrendous for some people. This was also almost twice the weight which was a benefit for me, since I'll be less likely to have to buy a heavier one later. I received this this morning, it fits together just wait for the click and off you go. It suggests, if you need it to, to remove a section, but I tried this and I don't see how this is possible. It doesn't really matter anyway because I have heard that a larger hoop is a lot easier to use than a smaller one. The colours alternate bright pink and a nice grey, and I was amused to find that the pink sections match my sports bra. Also in the box are some brief instructions. I don't know why I found it so amusing that it tells you to "fling" it to the left, but let me tell you, it's exactly what you have to do. Just a tip for you lefties out there, the left thing is supposedly for someone who's right handed, so if you're struggling try going to the right. As I only received it today, I can't really give a comprehensive review right away, but it's great fun and in 15-20 minutes I went from someone who hadn't used a hula hoop in ten years and had completely forgotten how to use one to being able to keep it up for 15 seconds. It doesn't sound a lot, but trust me, it feels like it; you can practically feel your core tightening! Will keep you updated, but so far, great fun.

Hoola hoop heaven for a returning hoola hooper!
I'm a returning hoola-hopper (I hoola-hooped as a child and it's been decades since I last used a hoola hoop - I'm now in my late 30s!). So was just thinking of upping my fitness by going back to hoola-hooping as I reckon it's a really fun way to exercise without having to go to a gym or zumba class. And this was the answer. It's really easy to assemble. I'm 5'1.5" so I had to leave out one section to make the circumference of the ring just right for me, getting the size right makes the difference between hoola-hooping heaven or hell - how do you know it's the right size for you? Well, it you stand the ring in front of you, the top rim should be at the level of your navel. Mine came just under my navel by about 1.5 inches but that was just fine. Anyway, the padding was good on this hoola-hoop; however, I did have to put on two vests before exercising so I had a bit more protection from the frictional forces generated by the hoola hoop. It was like riding a bike really. Even after decades of not doing the hoola, I found that you do get the hang of it. I think for non-hoola hoopers, it would still be easy to learn, just be patient. It takes time. Get the ring size right, then position the ring at waist level, then fling it in the direction you want to gyrate. When I say fling, I mean really throw it to your side with force because it is this initial push that will keep your ring going. Then move your body accordingly. If you find the ring starting to slow and fall down, you need to gyrate faster to keep the hoola hoop twirling round and prevent it from falling. Practice makes perfect. This is day 2 of me using it and I didn't notice any bruising on my midsection from yesterday's hoola hoop session - I do feel sore (good sore), but that's only to be expected. Will update this feedback in a few months to see how many inches I lose on my waist. Very happy with purchase.

Great exercise for busy people
I've had one of these for nearly two weeks and so far I am very, very happy with it. I haven't hula hooped for probably 40 odd years (!) so it took a little while to get the hang of it, but I could feel the benefits straight away. I'm easily fitting in 2 or 3 sessions a day, my waist is definitely tighter and I am losing weight and building stamina daily. It is great low impact exercise and because it can be done whenever I have a spare few minutes it's sustainable, whereas finding an hour or so to go to the gym three times a week just isn't (for me) The hoop is very well made and sturdy. The pieces clicked firmly together and the padding is robust and is staying in place. I've withheld one star only because I've not owned it long enough to comment on its long term durability, but to be fair I have already received good value for money and would definitely recommend it!

Well balanced, collapsable, beginner hoop
I was looking for something fun and interesting to add to my home exercise regime, and came across "hooping." After doing some reading on the internet, and watching a multitude of you tube videos I had learned a couple of things: 1) for fitness hooping, or hoop dance, you need a weighted hoop (this makes it easier to control) and 2) it needs to be much bigger than you imagine, approximately to your waist or navel. I initially chose this hoop because it comes in bits, and would be easy to store. It is also marketed as a "beginner" hoop, weighing 1.2kg. The hoop comes in 8 segments, and locks together very easily (haven't tried taking it apart yet - it gets too much use!). There are also some health and safety guidelines and instructions on how to fit the segments together and take apart. Unfortunately there are no guidelines on how to get started hooping, so back to you tube it was... The hoop is well made, and the foam padding is consistent across all sections, giving a smooth and comfortable finish. On my first 3 minute session (as advised, 3 minutes twice a day for the first week, building up to 6 minutes in the second week, and up to 20 minutes (and beyond) after the third week) my first thoughts were... oooh that is much harder than it looks, and ouch! I'm very overweight, and have poor muscle tone across my chest, abdomen and thighs, and the weight of the hoop rolling over these areas makes the skin tender to touch (hence the starting with only a few minutes at a time). If you haven't hooped before, or as an adult, you may find it frustrating at first, as you drop or lose the hoop time and again, however you soon pick up the correct movement and rhythm. On day 1, I could hardly do one revolution; now on day 5 I can do about 15 consistently, and (from what I've read) I should allow one month of daily practice before I'll be able to hoop consistently for as long as I want (and start doing some basic routines).

Brilliant piece of kit!
This arrived promptly, and well packaged. The hoop comes in 6 pieces, which are easy to fit together. (I haven't tried to take it apart, but I don't imagine that would cause any problems either.) You can apparently leave out 1 section to make a smaller hoop if required: I believe smaller = easier. Having not hula'd for over 25 years it did take me a few goes to get the hang of it, and the weighted hoop isn't quite as versatile as the lightweight plastic of my childhood; e.g. no matter how fast I go I can't get it to move upwards round my ribs like they used to. This one loops easily around the waist, and with a little more concentration I can get it to circle round my hips; although this usually results in my dropping it after just a few minutes.. I have no idea what people have been doing with it in order to bruise themselves?! The hoop is covered in a soft foam padding, and i cannot see how it could cause injury- unless you actually hit someone with it! My first day I dropped it several times, causing it to bounce off my legs and feet. When i did get the hang of it I disregarded the advice to 'ease into it' and went full on for about 45 mins. I could certainly feel it the next day- a slight tenderness around my abs that made me much more aware of my posture- but no bruising or pain anywhere. I have had it for about 3 weeks now, and have got into the habit of hula-ing in front of the tv while waiting for dinner to cook. Sadly I don't yet have a Dita Von Teese waist, but it's great fun- as proved by all my friends wanting a go at last weekends BBQ. It would have been handy if it can with ideas of different ways to use it, but I have found some items on youtube for ideas.

Very heavy
There was no ease of use with this it’s to heavy to use - appearance is good - it is not practical for me to use I have a bad back I keep it at the back of the wardrobe as I had gone past the returns date - but for someone young strong this would be ideal for them

Great fun and it works!!!
Ok, so I used to love hooping but we're talking about a while ago... This arrived (really quickly, great service), put it together quickly (easy to do), tried to hoop and the hoop just fell to the floor. Tried again, dropped it again. I could not do it!!! Started to think "Oh no not another waste of money fitness idea"... but persevered. Found some online instructions on the basics, such as how to place your feet, not to move your head etc. Kept trying.... Kept dropping the hoop. Refused to give up and decided to give it 15 minutes of trying for a week and see how far I got. The first day I could only do about 4 hoops. The next day I managed 10. By the end of the week I was up to about 50. I soon stopped counting, and can now do my daily 15-20 minutes with though a break. I've been doing about 15 minutes, about 5 days a week so far, and have lost a total of about 5cm from waist/upper hips/thighs. It's not loads but I feel more shapely and that my posture is improved, plus I haven't been dieting so didn't expect to lose a lot. So - real results, good fun, doesn't take long, not expensive, even a busy excercise phobic can do it and keep it up.... Would thoroughly recommend this hoop. But if you buy it and can't do it at first don't give up, you'll soon get it!

A hoop for a great, fun ab workout.
I initially thought that this was a hula hoop without bumps, so I ordered it. It arrived in a timely manner. When it arrived, I was happy with the weight that it had, but it I was a little sad initially that it had the bumps. I had read that it bothered some people, so I was skeptical. After trying it out, I was very happy with the hoop. I like the weight and the padding is very comfy. The bumps make your muscles tense up more, which I find beneficial for a better workout. It never hurt and I never got any bruises from the bumps, like other people have reported on other hoops. You can easily take out a section to make the hoop a little smaller. The way the hoop connects is clever and sturdy and does not interfere with your exercise. Just make sure all sections are clicked together and get those abs working.

Genial.
