Tens
Inexpensive but my choice of tens I recommend to my patients as it is simple to use and affective for pain control 👍

Good basic tens machine no frills
Replacement for an older tens machine of a different brand. Chose this med-fit1 model as it is basic, no frills and easy to use. No digi screen you need a magnifier glass to read (!), no scrolling through many settings every time you switch it on and you don't have to restart it every 15 minutes which we've found is an annoyance in its own right when using a dual machine getting both to start and finish at the same time!. There was a med-fit3 model available at only a slightly few pounds higher price to this model, but steered away from that as had a small digital screen and used the rectangle 9v style batteries and we wanted to go simple and be able to use our AA rechargeable batteries in our new purchase going forward. It does look like a retro radio in look with the belt clip, but the functionality stands out with this model. Putting in the 2 included batteries that came with this tens machine was a little difficult in that it took a few attempts to get the cover off. Sure it will get more loose and easier the more times the batteries are changed. Instruction manual of where to place pads and level of setting useful. Indications some purchasers have had their physio or pain clinic set up their new machine, but in our case as neither of these are involved so we needed to go more by info from the manual and was trial and error. All individuals must be different and it must also depend on which part of the body you are using the tens machine, we found that some of the settings suggested by the manual were far too high/severe for us (back, neck and knee areas). We both found the best setting, for first use for us was Mode "N" constant, Pulse Rate 75, Pulse Width 120, Intensity Setting 3. Anything over this was just too uncomfortable. For now this level of setting is powerful enough and a good starting point and we are sticking with it. We can switch the machine off and turn it back on again and only need to turn the intensity setting to 3 and it is ready to go again. We've left the pads on and tens running for an hour and no discomfort. The med-fit! comes with 8 sticky pads. Longevity depends on amount of use. Sometimes a wipe over with a damp finger with water can reinvigorate the stickininess for many more uses before formally changing for new ones. Pads for tens machines can be quite expensive. Reading reviews prior to placing the tens order, I ordered some additional Auvon brand pads which come in different sizes and are of a good quality and price to use with the med-fit1. The bigger (rectangle) pads are great for larger areas such as the back and big knees than the small square ones! Unknown yet how long the batteries will last, but will use rechargeable when those that came with the machine need replacing. Hubby says it definitely helps his dodgy knee with the pain relief better than his previous heat pack or pain relief gel. My only disappointment is that when not in use it either has to go back in the box or just left on the table or put in drawer. Perhaps for a slightly increased price a simple soft storage bag could be included for safe keeping of all components and to help carry when travelling. This tens machine is well worth the money paid and expect it to be frequently used.

Great little Machine
It does reduce the pain i am experiencing. I have sciatic pain down my right leg due to a slipped disc. I got feed up taking loads of painkillers i just felt that it can't be good for me. The Tens machine means i can reduce the medication during the day. This is not a cure, after turning the machine off i am pain free for about 10 minutes then the pain returns, i basically just leave it on most of the day and take medication during the night. The Tens machine Dual channels means I can place 2 Electrodes at the top of my leg and 2 on my calf muscle. When i first received the Tens machine i placed the electrodes on my leg and left it on for about 5 hours, it did give me some relief from the pain. It has taken me a few days to find the most effective place to put the electrodes, just a bit of trial and error needed. So the Tens machine comes with Med-Fit 1 instruction manual, very comprehensive. A patients practical guide to Tens Therapy and treatment. This tells you how to use the Tens machine, how long to use it for, during Tens treatment, after Tens treatment and what the Tens machine can be used for. It has a picture guide on where to put the electrodes for certain conditions. These include cervical pain, frozen shoulder, shoulder pain, lower leg pain, sciatica and many more. It also comes with the Tens machine itself with a 9V battery, the battery didn't last long so I have also bought a 9V battery charger and 2 9V batteries. It has 2 leads which connect the Tens machine to the electrodes and it comes with 4 gel electrodes. I have been using the supplied electrodes for about a week and they are still going strong. I have however ordered extra electrode as I will using the machine for some time. Overall a good product and worth every penny.

Works fantastically
I was offered one by the hospital but they wanted too much money so I see this one which was exactly the same one. I have to say it’s amazing, after the first use I was pain free in my knees for a good few hours. Just when you go to turn the machine off just make sure you’re looking at what you’re doing, as I turned it up instead of off… youch lol

Well made and works well.
I cannot guarantee that all pain will disappear. These machines cannot do this, I don’t think! But this one works very well and it allows constant use without automatically switching off. This would be no good to me. Musculoskeletal-arthritic pain does not disappear just like that! This machine is well made and durable and easy to use. Only a machine which works wirelessly would be better as it is a bit of a nuisance having wires around you! LO.

CAN GET LOCKED MUSCLES MOVING, AND GET YOU PERMANENTLY OUT OF PAIN IF THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.
Med-fit can be used in two ways - as a normal TENS machine, to reduce pain; and to make locked muscles twitch so if your problem is that certain muscles have locked too tight (doctors sometimes say "in spasm" or "spastic") then this device may be able to help,on a permanent basis. I think it has done this for me - at least, I'm several weeks on and still out of agonising pain, with only mild pain remaining. The instructions for this usage (to unlock muscles) are on page 10 of the leaflet which is not as clear as it could be. They also say not to overdo it this way or the muscles will ache, presumably from being overworked. If you're using this item simply for pain relief from a permanent problem such as a disc, a few quotes from the booklet put this gadget in context - "In general pain relief will diminish within 30 minutes of the cessation of stimulation" (i.e. the effect wears off 30 minutes after you switch the thing off); "Treatment usually lasts 30 - 60 minutes, 2 - 4 times a day"; "pain relief may take as long as 30 minutes to achieve"; and "TENS may have less effect after extended use". Put this all together and you're using the thing quite a lot to bring about fairly short periods of reduced pain - assuming that it works for you, which is not a given. This is yet another product where they put the good news in the blurb on the website (before you buy it) and the bad news in the small print of the leaflet (after you've bought it). On the other hand, if you're desperate, and you probably are, or you would not be reading this, then this gadget costs less than one osteopath visit. Be aware that at anything near full power this gadget feels like you've touched an electric fence in the countryside. I would never have believed that a battery could deliver a shock like that. It seems to give a much stronger jolt on my hand than on my back, though I don't understand why. Approach it with caution, using the lowest settings to start with. The instructions don't warn you about this and are not very clear, though assembling the different parts ( pads, wires, etc) is pretty obvious. To get the battery in, slide the lid completely off. Its probably best to put the electrodes in place before attaching the wires to the main gadget to avoid touching them with your hands when they are switched on. If you're looking for something low-tech that cannot go wrong then another device, ActiPatch, has no controls other than off and on, and can be worn 24 hours a day if you feel like it. The tiny battery is built in. It's available in Boots the chemist, and comes with . different bandages to attach it to, for example, your back or your knee. There is no real sensation from using this item. The disadvantage of that one is that you throw it away after 720 hours use, so in the long run its going to work out more expensive (though with the med-fit you have to replace the sticky pads every so often). In my case it took about 7 hours with the ActiPatch before I realised that I was out of pain - but at least it never made me yelp like this gadget - and I can wear it unobtrusively all my waking hours if I want, without hesitation. This is not a TENS device - it is supposed to give off a small magnetic field which benefits you by encouraging blood flow. Anyway, it seems to help and be a much better bet for the elderly or infirm.

Wires keep coming out of the pads
Firstly, use of this product has reduced my oramorph dose by half which is amazing. It’s easy to use and the batteries last for so long in it (I’ve bought rechargeable ones now too). BUT the pads are extremely poor quality. All of them broke within the first few days. This is not acceptable!!! I keep the pads on throughout the day and am super careful when sitting/walking/using the toilet - so I don’t catch them. But the wires just work their way out of the pads all the time. I even wear multiple plasters over the wires to try and prevent this but it only delays the inevitable. The seller sent me a dozen free pads (although their customer service/communication is not the best). This is the reason I am giving 3 stars instead of 5 as the pads are a massive let down. However I would still highly recommend the product.
