Great Product - Relatively Easy To Install
Was brought for my mum who had a wireless thermostat fitted when the central heating was replaced, but the one they fitted, even I couldn't work it out. However with this, it is very easy to understand and very clear to read. This was the first wireless one I had fitted. The thermostat end was the easy bit, but when fitting the wireless receiver, had a few problems understanding what wire needed to go to what terminal. However, after some comparison to the one already fitted and following logic, was able to work it out. Thermostat linked to the receive straight away, but changed the frequency, just in case a neighbour had a similar device. After many days of use, received the news that all is working well and so far is maintaining the temperature of the house really well. Would really recommend this to anyone who just wants a simple thermostat without any need for 7-day programming. Many thanks for a great product.PS. Have the hard-wired version myself, and is working great after many years of service, so should expect the same for this.

Great Thermostat
I have owned this thermostat for a year now and I am really pleased with it.When I moved into my house I found that some central heating installation joker decided it would be a good idea to mount the central heating thermostat in the kitchen and above the kitchen radiator at that! This remote thermostat solved the problem easily, the receiver is now in the kitchen (in place of the rubbish, badly positioned mechanical thermostat) and the new electronic sender is in the living room, it works a treat despite the radio signal having 2 walls to travel through, I found the receiver easy to install, (1 pair of volt free contacts and a 230v supply to power it up)The sender (which is the thermostat) couldn't be easier to use, and I have not yet had to change the battery. You only have to choose your setpoint (in steps of 0.5'C) and the central heating switches off at Setpoint +0.5'C and switches on again at Setpoint -0.5'C.Another benefit is because the sender is battery operated it doesn't have to be fixed to a wall and so you are free to place it in various positions until you find a position that best represents the room temperature.

Mixed
Good price and now works fine but the electrician who put it in wasn't impressed with the wiring connectors and had to replace them.

Works well but operation manual could be better.
This item works well and is considerably cheaper than the similar Honeywell thermostat. The reason I have not given 5 stars is as follows. Firstly I think the operation manual leaves a lot to be desired. For instance there is reference to a reset button when in fact there is a 'reset hole' where you have to poke something in, but it does not clarify what. I was rather concerned about poking in something metallic in case I damaged the unit. When first received I was a little puzzled as to how to get the battery cover off, again I was afraid of damaging the unit. There is a 'stand' that can be used when the unit is not wall mounted but there is no explanation how it fits on. Regarding resetting, the unit goes dead once the battery cover is removed as the cover incorporates a metallic link that connects the battery ends together. However to access the 'reset hole' the battery cover has to come off. I phoned Salus about this and was told that the unit has to have power when being reset so it is necessary to link the battery ends whilst poking something into the reset hole? The only operational problem I have had relates to 'sleep mode'. If the up and down buttons are operated simultaneously the unit should go into sleep mode and turn off. I wanted to use this as a convenient way of manually turning my heating off. In my experience there are occasions when pressing the buttons together does not turn the unit off and it is necessary to try a number of times. After speaking to Salus on the phone about this they suggested returning the unit as they felt it was faulty. Unfortunately when I received the replacement I found it to be exactly the same so have decided to live with this problem.

Well deserved 4.5 Stars - albeit early days to comment reliability wise
Very good bit of kit if you want to be able to move your room thermostat around the house or around a room to find the best position and/or to later change location to suit radiator upgrades or house extensions etc. If not there are digital room stats out there without the radio connection capability of this one or the extra cost albeit cost of this one I felt was v.good value at £31.58 as compared to daft money for some others out there. There are two separate parts involved - here I will call them "sender" (that's the bit you can move around the house wirelessly) and "receiver" (that sits somewhere permanently wired into the central heating control scheme but which must be within communication range of the sender). My receiver is sat quite happily in the airing cupboard of my 3 bedroom home quite near the hot water cylinder, central heating pump and a plethora of water pipes - the sender communicates happily with the receiver if the sender is put in anywhere in any room indicating the signalling between them is a reasonable standard. Only got one gripe and that is that the included table stand has no tilt adjustment and so as standard the sender sits on a table at approaching a 45 degree angle meaning the LCD cant be read easily from more than around 6 to 8 ft away from it. There is a built-in wall hanging facility but its kind of defeating the object of its wireless nature to fix it on a wall. Very simple to use and I found Salus excellent from tech spt line view point (response and helpfulness) when contacted to see best way to connect it in place of a traditional 2 wire hall located room thermostat (original thermostat now in bin and a nice clean wall where it used to be). Those same 2 wires were simply disconnected from the 2 (of many) terminals where they were connected in the central heating controls wiring box (not the programmer) located in my case in my airing cupboard and the same 2 terminals of that wiring box were then connected to a new flexible cable the other end being connected to the receiver units volt free contacts. Via the same new flexible cable and rom the same wiring box, a 230 volt ac supply was also taken and connected to the L(ive) & N(eutral) terminals of the receiver unit as it needs a mains supply that is permanently on (ie unswitched) but which can be isolated using the same isolation means as should be in place already for the complete central heating control system (in my case the isolation means is a switched fuse unit (3 amp fuse) in the airing cupboard nearby the aforementioned wiring box. Its a doddle to install and use and has excellent Salus tech support if help needed which in my case I needed to do to establish connection options for it relating to my particular central heating system and also because the product did not appear to work immediately after switching on for the first time (another minor niggle - but it turned out to be normal until the sender has self registered to the receiver and this took a few minutes after which it has worked without any issue - possibly something Salus should explain in the manual). Ive given 5 stars as its not possible to give 4.5 and 4 is too low but 5 too high because of the one or two niggles referred to above.

Parfait !

5 stelle.
