Belfry Swing Arm Floor Lamp, Antique Brass finish supplied complete with Parchment shade

I bought this lamp to replace the one I’d bought in 2013. The base had disintegrated in the original one but I liked the lamp so much I was thrilled to discover I could still buy it. I use it almost every evening and can’t recommend it enough.

Mums much loved lamp gave up the ghost just before the 2 year warranty ran out. In my experience of this happening, many companies will not honour the warranty, despite it being, from a legal perspective, within the time period. They will complicate things and make life difficult, in order for you to just give in and not bother. I shan't mention any names....Vax and Kaercher! Occasionally, and sadly very occasionally you get an honest and upright company who stick to the rules and respect your hard earnt money and it's so refreshing! We actually asked for a replacement, instead of a refund as not only was the lamp very good for the reasonable price, but the attitude was polite, helpful and QUICK to respond and resolve the issue. I think even if the new lamp lasts not much over 2 years, it will still be worth every penny. It's a sturdy lamp though, so hopefully it will be a one off and last Mum a good few years! First surprise is that this item arrives beautifully packed in a cardboard box 16 inches square, which leaves you wondering what can possibly be inside. It's very easy to assemble, in fact it's quite good fun assembling it. The lamp looks quite "classy" when completed. If you know where to look you can (just) see the joins between the three segments but to all intents and purposes they're invisible.I'm guessing the "swing arm" will prove to be of little practical use, but it looks good.Nice lamp; In retrospect I should probably have gone for a straightforward floor lamp without the "swing arm" thingy, (which would no doubt have been considerably cheaper), but oh well.Note for DIY enthusiasts- There's an unusual warning on the cable that says it's impossible to re-wire this lamp at any time in future, which I can well believe, as it's by no means clear how exactly the mains cable passes through the "swing arm" component. Quote; "If the Cord is damaged, the Luminaire shall be destroyed"....So if at any time in future you need to replace ( for instance) a cracked lampholder, it's impossible. The upper part of this lamp seems to have been assembled in a way which would preclude ever rewiring it, or even replacing the lamp holder.

This is a stylish and very reasonably priced floor/standard lamp. The base and stand are a dull gold colour with an attractive 'swirly' pattern and the lampshade is cream with a gold trim. The overall effect is simple and elegant and I think it looks a lot more expensive than it is. I bought it to replace a rather fussy old standard lamp with a large, tatty, wobbly shade; this lamp is a great improvement! When assembled, it's my height, which is 5 ft 4"!The lamp arrives in a surprisingly compact box. There are assembly instructions enclosed but even I didn't need them (I'm not that good at DIY). It took me much more time to remove the packaging than to put the lamp together!I am delighted with the lamp and may buy another one for a friend. Highly recommended!
