Amazing bit of kit: 8 years old and still going strong.
Well, this is the first review I've ever written on Amazon in God knows how many years of using it.Which should tell you all you need to know about this pedal.I bought it in 2014 and here we are in 2022 with it still going despite taking a regular stage and rehearsal pounding from day one. My band is a punky kinda indie and this thing gets used a LOT. It's had beer spilled on it, been kicked across the floor, dropped and nothing seems to bother it. Literally nothing: it's as good as the day I bought it and has been used in multiple recording sessions, high profile gigs etc without a murmur of trouble. Legendary producer Clive Langer made some very nice comments about my bass sound... just sayin' :-DFor context, I use a Fender Jazz Bass through an Ampeg 350w head and matching 4x12 cab, and two Planet Waves leads which each cost more than this pedal. And I really wouldn't change it for anything else; it holds its head up high in more exalted company.

Sounds great. Ultra fiddly battery changing!
Cheap unit, but actually makes great sounds on my bass guitar. True bypass is good.Only problem is changing the battery. What an unnecessary faff. I could never manage this during a gig. It takes 10 minutes and several attempts, highly magnified glasses and an extra set of hands to change out the battery.Come on Behringer. Why???

Cheap, but gooooood... very good.
I bought this pedal because my 6+ year old BOD100 kinda broke (just the plastic casing).I have fixed it with glue, and it holds up, but it has highlighted that nothing lasts forever. But the BOD100 is still on my pedal board and is now used as a booster. The BOD400 has taken over as my main overdrive pedal, and is mostly the same (bar the name). I did notice a slight tone difference, maybe a tad more aggressive, so I adjusted it to get back the tone I had before. No trouble.I can tell you that with this cheap overdrive, I have had many compliments on my saturated sound, being on stage or recorded. A friend of mine has a recording studio, and when I sent him some recordings, he asked me what my saturation was, as he really liked the tone. Not bad for a pedal less than £20...One niggle (which doesn't concern me really) is the opening of the battery casing which is a bit awkward. I do not care as it is plugged in my generator, but people using batteries might find it not great. I thought I'd mention it.Now, addressing the bad reviews saying that it is crap, cheaply made of plastic etc... Yes it is made of plastic. I am careful with my stuff and don't jump on my pedal board while playing. My BOD100 lasted (and still lasts after the aforementioned supergluing) many years, and have never had an issue.

Very versatile overdrive pedal.
Surprisingly heavy even though case is plastic. Seems very sturdy. Pots feel good.Bought mainly to use with analogue/digital synths. Much better than my other overdrive/distortion pedals (Proco Rat/tubescreamer/etc) for this. Doesn't lose all the really low frequencies. EQ controls very useful for adding immense bottom end and higher harmonics. Dry/wet control allows me to add the right amount of grit/fuzz to low frequencies without overwhelming original signal compared to other pedals - eg. Rat, etc. Sounds awesome on electric guitar with all dials maxed but wouldn't leave much room for a bass guitar in the mix! It's also less noisy than my other pedals (Note - I use a usb powerbrick and adapter to power all pedals as mains adapters gives me noise).Only negatives are knobs are tightly packed for tweaking on the fly - it's a boss style pedal - and cant be used to boost signal levels when set to full dry as output ends up about same as when bypassed.Extremely good product for the money.
