Is this the same as malted yeast? Sorry if that’s a silly question

Hi, short answer 'No', and 'No' it's not a silly question either; it's a very good question. Try this explanation from the Amazon site: Diastatic malt powder is the "secret ingredient" savvy bread bakers use to promote a strong rise, great texture, and lovely brown crust. Especially useful when flour does not have barley malt added, as is true for most whole wheat flour and many organic flours.  Active enzymes in diastatic malt help yeast grow fully and efficiently throughout the fermentation period, yielding a good, strong rise and great oven-spring. Add only a small amount, ½ to 1 teaspoon per 3 cups of flour. Ingredients: Malted Barley, Wheat Flour, Dextrose.
I have never used/eaten malted yeast, but the term 'malted' usually means that grains have been moistened, allowed to sprout, then dried and milled up. The resulting flour then contains  complex sugars, eg fructose and sucrose - which is what feeds the yeast. I have to say that there does seem to be internet confusion over what constitutes 'Malted yeast', but I think this explanation is closest: Malted yeast contains a sugar called maltose, which is just two bonded glucose sugars. It's found in starchy foods, like potatoes, and malted yeast is used in beer production, giving brews a caramelly flavor. It differs from nutritional yeast in taste and nutritional value. So, caramelly  yeast extract, as against the umami, savour flavour of marmite/Bovril, which is also yeast with stuff added.  Hope that helps.
