great landline phone for elderly parents
One of the few non mobile land line phones with an answer machine and phone book built in. Purchased for my elderly parents, this is thier fourth one. And it just works, well. For the price replacing every 5 years or so is not a problem and it has all the features they need and can use it easily. Large button, good size screen. the ringer can be set loudly.

I Love this Phone!!
I have just taken this phone out of the box and it is so simple to set up! I have never known a phone like it. The batteries are pre-installed, so you just plug it in. The caller display is immediately displayed (I phoned my long-distance cousin and she rang me back on the phone, her number was displayed already)! I put it onto loud speaker, my cousin said it was crystal clear even when I stood back 3 feet or so, she said it was brilliant! (She wants one now)! I then phoned from my mobile - it displayed, I rang my brother, he phoned me back and left a message so I could test the 1571 - guess what? It works! Instructions are easy to follow. It shows on the screen how many calls you have had and you can scroll down on the 'calls' part (nice and obvious) and all the calls will display. I am about to put my personal numbers into the directory, 50 allowed, so that should be simple too. If you have a 'slow brain' like me and don't want a fussy-fangled phone, get this one, I am sure you will love it too! Note: (I will only use a Corded landline telephone - I am not a fan of cordless phones, encouraging all those microwaves into your ears - horrid)!

Cheap & cheerful
We bought this BT Decor 2200 telephone to replace a previous & similar BT phone that had gone bad & caused interference with our home phone line. Features: Volume settings: off/low/high. Ring tones: 3 to choose from. 5 levels of contrast for the display panel. Hands free & mute button(s) with red & green light up display on the key when activated. Programmable telephone number diary entries for 50 names & numbers. Recall button, directory button, navigator key, 1571. Caller ID, Call Waiting, Message Waiting. Hearing Aid Compatible. Dimensions/weight: Width 20cm Depth 16cm Height 9cm Weight 499g PRO's + Cheap. + Nice size buttons with large easy to read lettering. + Simple & easy to setup, even without the small instruction fold out. + No mains power connector used, runs off 4x AA batteries only, which are supplied. + Telephone cable comes attached with the phone. + Good length cable on the phone receiver & telephone cable. + Visually clean & pleasant to look at, with nice sized display panel. + Phone receiver can be unplugged, makes cleaning it easier. + Well packaged & phone is wrapped in thick tissue paper. CON's - Lack of color variety. - Time & date are too small & hard to read on the display. - The contrast on the display panel leaves dark outlines across it(more noticeable at higher contrast settings). - The 3 ring tones all sound pretty much the same. - From experience BT phones are known to deteriorate quickly over only a few years. Note: Not wall mountable, it's made for placing on a flat surface e.g desk or worktop etc... In conclusion, the BT Decor 2200 is a cheap & cheerful phone with a variety of features, albeit somewhat limited within them. The main purchase point for us is that no mains power connector was needed, which companies like Panasonic, which we'd prefer, don't provide. At only £20 it won't be an issue to replace it after a couple of years. Recommended.

Great little telephone
I needed a wired in phone for an extension due to increased interference on a DECT set of 4 phones from an increasing number of WIFI routers in the immediate area. This phone has a very clear reception with no feedback, interference or echo (main reason for 5*'s). The display is clear although it is a bit annoying to constantly have a number of calls display which for most users will not be required. Storing numbers is easy and a small number of them can easily be recalled by scrolling through them in alphabetical order. The buttons are large and easily seen and used and the cord for the hand-piece is a decent length. I don't use any of the BT services so can't comment on them but I have used the hands free speaker which is loud enough (and adjustable). All in all this is a basic, easy to use phone without too many features to be complicated but would suit most users with a few friends and family numbers to store. Recommended.

You have to be lucky to get a good one!
The BT Decor 2200 has been around for years and recently my old one of several years died completely. I still needed a basic corded phone with caller display, so returned to the same model. Reviews were very mixed, with both good and bad examples, but I took a chance anyway. The first was from my local Currys shop - fine for 2 weeks then it failed to accept incoming calls. Back to Currys for a replacement. The second one had a different fault - it completely failed to register any incoming numbers on caller display, despite leaving it in place for a few days. That was my main reason for buying it, so back to Currys again for a refund. The third one I ordered online from Amazon, in case Currys had a faulty batch. So far it works and I hope it too will last for years. We'll see. It seems to me that the quality control is poor and it's very hit or miss whether you get a good one or not. A pity, because when it works it's a good landline to have, not needing a mains socket and useful if your mobile phone has signal problems at times like mine.

Delivery time
I ordered this item on the 19th April and it arrived on the 21st !! What excellent service at a difficult time. The phone is excellent, a good sensible landline. I was desperate because the last one was faulty and kept cutting out, I thought I would never be able to replace it. The ring is not very loud it needs an extension if you're in another room, and the sound is ok. and it only comes in one colour. However, it does what it says on the box, and for the amazing price, I am well satisfied, and so pleased to have it, especially so speedily.

Broke within a few months
I am afraid after my great review below I have to retract it. I had to throw the phone away today. In 15 years of the previous one (which did not require batteries) I never had a single fault. Yet this morning only a few months after buying this new one all kinds of things have gone wrong which are the phone not the line (as i tested with another phone). The calls were not sounding, there was then a continuous loud buzz etc etc. I gave up, brought the old one downstairs and have put this one in the bin. I did try removing the batteries and putting them back (they are not worn out) but that only made it work for 3 more minutes. I have concluded I need a landline which has NO batteries in it required so avoid these kinds of faults. The simpler the phone the better. I also missed two very important work calls this morning because of this defect. [Until it went wrong today this is what I wrote after purchase of it "Great phone which arrived very quickly. However you need 4 batteries. It did not come with them. I have just been out to buy them. The leaflet inside says batteries included on one page and then on the back has a sticker saying no batteries, buy your own. It is not a big issue however. It replaced at 12 - 15 year old phone I had from BT. The screen display is bigger and better (hence need to 4 batteries) The icons and numbers are easy to read and follow and better than on my older phone and it displays message with a light when a 1571 (BT answerphone - I subscribe to that BT service ) message is received or it should. I have just tried twice from another phone and yet to see the light come on but I will give it time. I just tried again - I have twice now clicked "On" and okay to ensure it shows the light when I have a call minder message but the light still does not go on to show message waiting. Web search does not help. I did not buy it for this feature and picking up the phone as with my old one tells me there is a message by the tone anyway but it is pity the light does not show. There aer 4 brand new batteries in there and other screen features are working so it is not a batter issue and I do pay for the call minder service and there is a message waiting there and the 1571 button you press to retrieve messages (which is a nice new feature which means pushing 1 button not dialing 4 digits) works fine. I would not let this put everyone off. IT is a decent phone and is likely to be the last land line I will ever buy I suspect (and will eventually go the way of my fax machine and line which I cut off only last year in 2016 after a very good long run - when I started work in the early 80s we were just getting the first fax machines and used telex) Date and time and ringing sound and length of ring (immediate, medium or long) easy to set. I used my exactly plug in wire (rather than the one it came with) as that was easier and it has worked ( and do not share this landline with broadband so no comments on that aspect)."

BT phone...home.
Looking for a simple old school phone that does all the basics, without the stress? That's what I was looking for when my old man asked to get a phone for him. Out of the box you get one handset / receiver and receiver to wall cord. There is no power lead, as this is powered by 4 x AA batteries which are included. It has nice big buttons, 50 spaces fir phone book, has hands free button, mute button, three ringtones and a volume for ringtone, handset or hands free. When you received a message from a missed call the "1571" button flashes green. Just press to listen to message, simple. Overall this is a good value solid basic handset by a reputable company. In white with a clear green / black LCD screen. We'll recommended.
