will this work to jump start a Peugeout 1.6 diesel with a flat battery?

I have a 2.5 petrol BMW and it failed miserably to start that.ive been told it would struggle with a Diesel engine.it is a poor jump starter it is not good quality and would not recommend buying it at the price they are asking for it.saw the same machine for £10 less in a local shop.

Boxed it is easily the size of your spare wheel. If you've got a smallish boot or are a small person ie 5'2", you may find 'portable' open to interpretation. It's heavy too.

I don't know the size of the internal battery but, I don't think it matters. It's a load of rubbish and, as I'm sure you found out, even when fully charged it dies on first use!

If black lead can't be reached can neutral adapter be attached to part of engine?

You don't attach the neutral to your battery!! Please, please read instructions before using. This is more for readers going forward rather than OP as question is old, but you attach the red to the positive terminal on your car battery and the black negative to part of your engine compartment main body to earth it. If you attach both cables to the battery you'll do one of 2 things: give yourself an electric shock or break your battery. This is a jump starter, not a battery charger so it's for if your car won't start when out, to get it running til you can fully charge your battery properly at home by removing it from its housing and using the required product to charge it. This is for emergency use only, not to charge batteries, I'd say it wouldnt have enough oomph for that.
