I remember seeing the penguin race as a child and being mesmerised by it. I think the simplicity of this toy and the fact it seems to bring the penguins to life really captures kids attention, my litte boy loves it. However i do think i may have a copy or revised edition of this product. Firstly it requires 3 x AA batteries as opposed to 1 x D Type battery as mentioned in other reviews. Secondly it plays 'the penguin race song' its loud and annoying, however my son seems totally oblivious to it! Thirdly the tracks are different colours and there is some badly translated English on the graphics. However regardless of any of that we all still love it and enjoy watching the penguns go up the stairs and down the slide! i just wish it had a volume control or mute button!!! I do think the song it plays is slightly less annoying than the penguin noise in the video of another review though! The product arrived in good time and well packaged. It is very easy to set up within 5 minutes and for the price seems pretty well made. Woud make a great present / gift / stocking filler for younger children and definitely reccomend.

Excellent toy that my girls had when they were young children and here it is for our grandchildren! Bit cheap and cheerful but it works that’s obviously the main thing and as the penguins go up the stairs and go round and round it really is quite mesmerising-the music is really annoying but it can actually be turned off so you can watch the penguins just doing their thing. It never ceases to amaze me what a good toy this is, unfortunately I don’t think it will last very long in young hands but even so it is great fun and I would highly recommend it.

I bought this for my grandson but was sent a slightly different version. It took three AA batteries not one D battery as described. It was easy to construct and reasonably sturdy. The negative is the noise - amusement arcade type of noises that can "do your head in"!! My adult son opened it up and disconnected the sound. My grandson age three loved it. The educational aspect is working out how they go upstairs, what happens when you put them on backwards, what happens if you hold one back, what happens if you pull the slide out and create a gap, what happens when you try other little toys rather than penguins, fantasy play etc. Very cute and brings back memories for parents (not grandparents)

Thy only downfall is the LOUD motor argh drives Grandpa and Nannan crazy lol and the MUSIC thank goodness you have a choice with or without. Even the dogs love it and watch with her. Once built it is quite sturdy she picks it up with the slide and carries it about, Obviously with small kids watch out with the little penguins thy may put them in there mouths. :) In all entertaining .... well to the kids and dogs lol

Item arrived on time but was not in a working condition. Was as described, well packed and arrived on time but did not work at all so was returned.

It is extremely noisy, but it works very well and it’s very good. I would recommend it. It came on time.

My little boy loved it and reminds me of when I had one when I was little which was the reasoning behind buying it. The colours on this picture is wrong and the picture on the box that it comes in has to wrong colours placed on it, I found this out after an hour of trying to connect the same colours as the box but noticed they didn't work out that way. The only other thing is that it there is music and it is very, very loud tto the point that after a while I turn it off because it is annoying, so I would recommend buying either blu tack or tape to put over the speaker to muffle the noise. Other than those negative things once you have it all connected and muffled it is actually great to keep little ones occupied, did come quickly.

You saw it on Baby Mozart, right? Your baby (you!) we're mesmerised by that one with the cute little penguins going up and down and round and round while Mozart softly plays in the background and you could actually SEE those brain cells growing in your precious bundle's tiny, fuzzy head. Well the penguins do go up and down and round and round, but the whole thing would appear to be powered by the motor from a 1978 beige Yugo, with a large hole in the exhaust. As a result the manufacturers have made the integrated music so loud it might be heard above the crowd at an AC/DC concert during a sing-along rendition of "Whole Lotta Rosie." Seriously. I switched it on and the wild deer in Richmond Park startled. And I live in Devon. And while we're on it, let's talk about the music: Mozart it ain't. What it is is a three bar clip from the recurring nightmare scene in a cheap horror flick where the mechanical fairground characters come to life. Sellotape over the speaker holes merely reduces it to a painfully penetrating whine. But on the plus side our home and immediate environment is now permanently free of mosquitoes, rodents and gangs of dissolute youths. Watching the poor little penguins eternally locked into this futile loop of stair-climb/spiral-slide with the window-shattering soundtrack is enough to induce an existential crisis. I am haunted by this toy. Having said all that, I think it should be noted that I am probably not the manufacturer's target demographic. The kids adore it. I would even count it as educational, not based on its association with the Baby Mozart thing, but on the extraordinary inventiveness with which the kids devise ways to access the demonic toy when we've put it out of reach. I have to give this damn thing 5 stars as it's one of the most enduring favourites in the household, when they're allowed to play with it, that is.

Niet goed

I have 7 adorable grandchildren under the age of 6. I got this for two of them that live in MN, but gave it to them in the presence of their IA cousins. Upon opening it all 4 fell under the spell of the perky penguins chirping and making their way up the ladder and down the slide. The smiles appeared and the only sounds were their sweet giggles, laughing at the penguins antics. (FUN) As it's mostly a watching toy, there was no fighting. At least until they decided to see what happened when they put the penguins on backwards (educational, durable). Not much as it turns out, the mostly stick at the bottom looking like they are kissing (educational?) When my 33 year-old-daughter saw it, she begin to talk of how she had begged for one for years as a child so when I saw it for $10 on Amazon I got her one for Christmas. Don't think she appreciated it, but her kids did. I think it's a darling toy that kids really enjoy watching. Kept them entertained MUCH longer and more effectively that I had thought it would.
