The Hermès Scarf: History & Mystique

Great coffee table book to pour over. Bought as a gift for my mum after we have started a rather competitive Hermes scarf collection :) P.S definitely worth doing price comparisons as in a Hermes store they were charging twice as much as I bought it for on amazon. At the time I think I paid around £30-35 on Amazon, mainstream book shops selling around £40-50 and Hermes £60.

The Hermes scarf is something of a design institution. I you like them, (and who doesn't), this fascinating book is a must buy

The pictures are stunning as are the prints of individual designs. A woman who loves Hermes scarves will love this book...

Perfect in every way!

As an introduction to Hermes Scarves and the House of Hermes, this book is excellent. It gives a limited overview of the history and developement of the Hermes Scarf.I particularly liked the section showing the overlapping method of printing the colours and designs of the scarves. The heavy quality of the paper lends itself to good reproduction of the scarf designs. I was disappointed by the limited numbers of photos of older designs, as the majority of the designs illustrated seem to be more modern. I suppose I was hoping for more of a catalogue of designs, chronologically ordered with more information about the designers too. I had hoped for a selection of designs by the same artist, showing their design choices and developement of the various themes. Perhaps these ideas will be incorporated into Book 2. All in all, a good book at a reasonable price. Thanks Amazon.

A 40£ book which came wrapped in foil but either the quality of the paper is execrable or it was kept in poor storage conditions. Shame, this is how it looks like, useless.

Disappointed that the book contained little information on the making of the scarf, which must be considered to be part of the mystique. The book is little more than a picture book of Hermes scarves, as the amount of text is relatively small. For a book of this size and apparent promise, it does not really deliver unfortunately.
