What can I say really? The product exceeded my expectations of a diamond steel as I've only ever used normal steels before. This thing is quality, hugs and just sharpens knives! I myself prefer that it is oblong shaped rather than pure round as it gets more of the area than a round one would IMO. Only a little more I guess thinking about physics behind it all... but hey, time is money no?! :D ... no issues with the plastic stub end for me as a previous reviewer posted. Mine is quite flush to be fair, and if it were not.. as I sharpened it would have made it flush regardless. But, I don't sharpen that way so not an issue. This thing has given me the best edge on my Victorinox blade to date, finishing off with a different steel to end. (That's the way to go if you didn't know.) The steel was used before of course without good results, but this diamond one did the job to get there! 100% happy with the product *which was not provided to me at a discounted rate or such .. wish it was lol ... Regardless, money well well spent for me. No regrets! Edit: It is now August 2021, and it is still going strong!

I have tried all kinds of knife sharpeners on my Japenese Mac knives to absolutely no effect - in fact, most the time making them worse. I've watched so many YouTube videos to see where I've been going wrong, but was sure I was doing things right. So I was delighted when upon purchasing this item, it actually worked! It is easy to use, sharpened the knives quickly, easily and well. I believe the oval cross section works better than a round cross sectioned sharpener too, as it provides more surface area to sharpen against. I saw one review that says the coating seems to remove after a time - I cannot yet comment on that as of now, but if it does, and another has to be bought, so long as they have a long enough life or still under guarantee, then I would be ok with that.

Quick to use and sharpens knife easily with good results. The length and shape of it is excellent for a novice to use. It does seem to have quickly lost it's "roughness" of the diamond dust. It still sharpens but if this is intentional by the manufacturer, perhaps they should reassure customers to expect this. I don't know how long this is expected to perform to the high standard before becoming like the rest of my "steels".

Looks the business!! Well made and sturdy for sharpening. Cannot comment on perforance as I have yet to use it. Good value for money - housewife use. Good safety protector shield at the base of handle.

So far seems to do the job but the next time round I would not buy an oval steel - a circular one would have been better

OK I am a guy so try to use a tomato to test the sharpness and not you fingers. Three strokes either side and your knives become lethal weapons, so be warned. Uncomplicated, anyone can do it resulting in exceptional sharpness.
