It's essentially a weighing scale, so yes. I would, however, suggest taking the baby on as hand luggage and not stowing in the hold. Won't make that mistake again.

Yes, one CR something or other battery is included. You have to remove the plastic tab to activate it.

Does the measured weight stay on the display after you put the case back down?

Sorry but the other answers here are wrong and clearly not made by owners of the scale. The measured weight DOES stay on the scale if the weight is stable for a couple of seconds. You will see a “hold” message on the screen when this happens allowing you to get an accurate reading so you can see it after you put down your bag.

Can it be used to weight your cat?

Should be ok as long as a proper sling is used it weighs up to 50kg
