Like a Chemex, but with a Metal Filter! Good find!
Makes brilliant pour over coffee. I was impressed with the quality of the metal filter as well. I'm not sure if you can use paper filters with this as well (as you would with the Chemex) but this is not a bad design. The glass is a little on the thin side, and makes me nervous everytime I wash it. The plastic cuff does get quite hot, but if you try to keep your index finger and thumb on the rubber clasp, it should avoid scalding you. But this makes brilliant pourover coffee, I just have to get the grind right, as I think I had too fine a grind on my first try. Even though my first attempt was ideal... it was still very tasty. I recommend a medium grind, larger than you would do for a paper filter, and ~12g of Coffee grounds per 300mL, but even though I did 36grams of coffee for the full 1000mL... it turned out great. Also, make sure your water is somewhere between 80-93°C. If it's too hot, then it brings out the bitterness of the coffee. Why am I talking coffee technique here? If you're shopping for this, you probably already know what to do with it. But I would recommend a "goose neck" or narrow spout kettle, as a controlled pour is difficult with a regular kettle (as I discovered the hard way).

Great Coffee Everytime
Have been using french presses, espresso machines all my life. But decided I needed something a little more practical. One day, at a coffee shop I had a cup of coffee which was a pour over. I loved the taste and decided that I would look this up. Came upon this amazing product. The practicality of this product is just a brilliant. Has its own filter, you can add another paper filter on top of it to refine the taste even further. And once you are done, all you have to do is wash the filter and rinse the whole thing and you are done. None of that mess with the french press or the espresso machines. The taste is amazing. It is just what a coffee should taste like. Not too bitter, not too flat. Haven't been able to produce a bad batch yet. The build quality is also outstanding. The glass is thin but strong. The cover outside is also very sturdy and so easy to clean. I strongly recommend this product for people who are after easy, practical great tasting coffee.

Good coffee, perfect for a slow day
This is a rather good coffee maker, especially when used together with a paper filter (in addition to the already supplied stainless steel filter). Same coffee definitely tastes better from this compared to an ordinary French press. Only downside is that you will have to pour water over if from time to time (even more of an issue if not using paper a paper filter). The only downside is that this is not the best coffee maker to use when you're in a hurry. The capacity is pretty good, especially if you are making two mugs of coffee (coffee level will go half way then). You will want to heat it up before making coffee to ensure a good temperature of your coffee – just pour some hot water in it and gently swirl it around. It is OK to pour from, and for cleaning it the opening is large enough to get a dish brush through. For about £20 it's a quite good deal considering the quality of coffee it makes. I would recommend it as a coffee maker to use on weekends, or as a backup for a main coffee maker, or as the primary coffee maker for someone who does not mind taking some time to make good coffee.

Great piece of kit for coffee lovers.
I fancied a Chemex, but couldn't justify the £40+ asking price, so I bought a 1 litre Bodum for £13.50. It's brilliant, and it looks great as well. I love my coffee (currently hand grinding an organic blend of robusta and arabica beans by Lavazza) and have been using a stainless steel stove top pot (previously used a cafetiere, & have used an aeropress). I use size 4 unbleached filter papers, as I want to remove some unwanted oils. Tried the papers with the stainless filter, but they work better alone. So, this is how I make my brew.... I put the paper in the neck, (make sure, if the edges are not glued, that you fold the bottom & side edges - otherwise they'll pop open & everything will just fall straight in to the pot lol), then pour boiled water over it, this helps it to stick to the glass, and it warms the glass. I pour the water out and then add 1 1/2 tbs coffee per person. I then wrap a funky linen tea towel around the jug to act as a cosy (it's a slow process, and I want to ensure it stays hot). I slowly pour the water over the coffee, in a circular action. Leave it to bubble through, then refill one and half more times. This makes 2 good mugs. Simply lift out the filter paper & the grounds & compost. Pop in the "lid", pour and enjoy. It takes longer than other methods, but it's worth the wait. A bargain buy that works well and looks very nice.

Excellent method for brewing coffee
I find that in terms of ease of use and quality of result this is one of the best methods for brewing coffee. Sure, it's nice to have an espresso machine but they require a lot of upkeep. This has a similar flavour and depth to cafetiere coffee and suits a similar grind (perhaps a little finer would be better to encourage a slower drip). It does however (IME) produce less bitterants, possibly due to the water not sitting directly with the bitter elements of the ground beans for too long which can happen if you've not made a single cup cafetiere. It is very easy to clean and thankfully doesn't use wasteful (environmentally) and costly filters so there are no consumable parts. 8/10

Alright if you like weak coffee
This product initially grabbed my attention on Amazon whilst searching coffee filters for my percolator. I was attracted by the simplicity of its concept of a "pour over filter" for making coffee. In these times of having to save energy (my faithful old percolator takes about ten minutes to brew a litre of coffee, then the hotplate on which the carafe sits remains on for another forty minutes.), seven days a week, all that energy soon mounts up. So hence the attraction of the Bodum, it's very attractive to look at and simple to clean and will be exceptionally economical. However, there is one small setback and that's with the filter itself. Where the action of pouring hot water through coffee grounds to make a beverage is the simplest of concepts, the filter doesn't retain the water long enough to infuse with the grounds - resulting in a weak (almost insipid) brew. I have since purchasing the Bodum ordered some paper filters (size 3) to fit inside the mesh filter to try and remedy this setback. So personally, where I think this is a great energy saving idea, for now the jury is still out.

Perfect pour over coffee maker
Great coffee maker and very easy to use (when you know how). There’s some good YouTube videos on the proper use of one of these that I have directed friends to who I can’t show in my kitchen, but understand you don’t just pour the water in, the coffee will not taste as good as it can - it’s a slow circular drizzle I get sidetracked easily!!! Easy to use, looks great as a centre price on a table after dinner and makes great coffee. Unless you have the hand of a 5 year old your not going to be able to get in to this with a sponge to clean it if you forget to rinse it out quick enough. I have recommended this to friends and would recommend here

Proper coffee!
Arrived at 10.30am today and I had my coffee on the go within 15mins of arrival. Never had a pour over before but I have been deliberating over making this purchase for a while. Genuinely so easy to use, coffee came out great. With regard to the metal filter, which other’s have criticised a little, I thought it was absolutely fine. Yes, there was a small amount of sediment in the coffee at the end in the bottom but nothing more than I have experienced with full blown coffee machines and paper filters. All in all a fine purchase and can’t wait to use it again tomorrow morning!

5 star product, none for the seller
Never received the POUR OVER with black band from the seller HOLDANDSTORAGE. Ordered the pour over with black band, received a Bodum Chambord French press. Contacted the seller to return the French press, reordered the pour over with black band....received another French press. HOLDANDSTORAGE Customer service was very good, they promptly responded to emails and issued refunds, and even lowered the price on the 2nd order as it had raised $5. I had ordered a cork banded pour over from another seller and wanted to compare the two to keep one, but ultimately since HOLDANDSTORAGE and Amazon couldn’t get the order right I went with the cork band. As far as the product....excellent! Make a great cup of coffee, as stated it doesn’t filter out the oils, and is easy to prepare and clean. EDIT 3/3/2019 After about A months worth of use, still works great, in fact I like it so much I haven’t used my French press or Keurig since. Regarding any of the reviews citing that the coffee flows through the filter too fast and makes weak coffee, sounds like they’re doing it wrong, either using the wrong grind of coffee or too little. Done correctly, the coffee doesn’t flow through fast, rather it’s a steady drip which takes maybe 90 seconds to empty. The grounds will settle into a cone shape, so make sure when you add more hot water you pour around the edges of the filter to get all the grounds remixed. As far as quantity of grounds, I use roughly 2 to 3 rounded tablespoons, re-adding hot water twice to fill the carafe. After making the first carafe with 2-3 pours, the grounds will be somewhat weaker. I could toss the original grounds and start over, but normally, I add a about one more tablespoon of grounds and repeat the process. Yes, the 2nd batch will be a little weaker, but the results are more than acceptable to me taste-wise, and I’ve already gotten my boost of caffeine from the first carafe.

3 Years of Good Coffee
I broke the last one after 3 years of use. It was totally my own fault, not something to do with the product so when it happened I got another one immediately. The Bodum is our family's daily driver in terms of coffee. We own french presses, an Aeropress, a mocha pot, and a billion other ways to make coffee, but frankly the pour over makes the right amount, the right quality, with the least amount of effort. A full pot is easily enough for two or three people to get their morning started, or one person to drink on the whole afternoon. The permanent filter it comes with is fine if you're used to french press style coffee. It won't leave as much sediment in your coffee as a french press does, but it will still allow the majority of the oils to seep in. We're a lil caffeine sensitive, so we choose to use a paper filter instead. This leaves no sediment and results in a clean cup of coffee that wakes us up without giving us heart palpitations. I personally prefer the Bodum over the french press for the simple fact that the coffee can sit in the carafe without continually steeping in the grounds. This makes it convenient for work afternoons where you'd like to be continually pouring rather then making the coffee. The glass carafe is easy to clean with warm soapy water, but I did notice it developed a patina over the years (I was shocked seeing the new one with perfectly clear glass). Coffee connoisseurs will tell you that's a good thing, but if it bugs you I will admit that the bottle neck in the carafe makes it hard to scrub with anything other then a water bottle brush. tl;dr if you need to make more then a cup of coffee quick, this is the method. If you're too broke/not snobby enough to own a chemex, this is for you.
