I have to repair a fiberglass kayak. What is the best combination of mat and raisin to use? Thanks

350 gsm will work. Most important part of repairing a glass K1 is to roughen the surrounding area. Best done by hand using an old saw blade. Repair from the inside if possible. Roughenning with a power tool leaves too fine a finish. Any good polyester resin will work. Make sure that the glass mat is well saturated and use a cutting roller to get rid of all air bubbles. Apply two coats of glass mat.

hi, i want to add an extra layer of insulation on top of my van roof. could i use this to cover it? would it stick to a metal surface heated by sun?

It will stick fine if you use it in combination with epoxy resin. It will be durable even in harsh conditions. Build it up in layers. It can be sanded and painted as you wish once the epoxy has cured.

Will this work for a skin on a small surfboard?

I used it to create a protective layer on the underside of a large mower deck. The matting is quite coarse stranded which meant it was not very smooth but worked ok for my purpose.Perhaps you would need a thicker gel coat to acheive a smother finish?

Can i use this to strengthen a plaster mould

This begs the question "How do you then get the plug out of the mould?" If the mould is made of plaster, yes it could be used to strengthen it, but if the mould is a flexible rubber used to create plaster casts, then no. it would not work.
