No claims on the bag. It's certainlynot going to be made directly from plant matter so it's either made via synthetic chemistry (this upsets people even though NAC is a lifesaving human medicine), genetically modified bacteria (see above, those give us insulin from e.coli instead of dogs). or, most likely, from what it smells like - (burning hair)

I'm banking on sheep's wool because the EU are anal about genetic modification and everyone else is anal about "chemicals".

For what it's worth it,s not from meat, milk or eggs. Hard proteins are a good source.

You can find kosher cysteine/acetylcysteine if you want to be sure.

Down to you if you want to save some already plucked chickens. (though the kosher methods are far less wasteful and impure)

Is it normal for nac powder to have a horrible smell to it? i opened this last night and the smell is something else
