Ideal for runners and cyclists looking for more accurate HR stats and running stats.
I've been using a Garmin Fenix 5 watch for over a year now and whilst the built in wrist heart rate monitor is fairly accurate I wanted something more accurate so I could calculate my lactate threshold and also see more running stats. The extra stats on ground contact time, vertical oscillation etc are very interesting, I've not figured out how I'll factot them into my training yet but the main reason for purchase was as a more accurate HR monitor and it does that perfectly. You don't really notice the strap once you are wearing it, I've worn it for 7 hour bike rides and 10km runs without any irritation.Once paired with the Fenix 5 I've had no connection issues at all, I just stary my activity and it auto-detects it instantly, if I'm not wearing it or I've forgotten it then it falls back to using the wrist HR sensor without any need to intervene.

Reliable Heart Rate Monitor.
I use this strap to measure my heart rate while running with a Garmin Forerunner 630 watch. It fits comfortably and snugly and rarely slips down, unlike some others I've had. I did once try a wrist HR watch (Garmin 235) but the heart rate readings were very unreliable, so I traded it in for the 630, which has no wrist HR. This strap is so much more reliable for HR than wrist measurement. Occasionally, I need to re-tighten it. This is my second Garmin HRM-Run strap. The first lasted me around 5 years, wearing it during nearly all my training runs and races, so it doesn't owe me anything. It eventually lost Ant+ functionality and could not communicate with my watch. The button battery (CR 2032) probably lasts me around 6 months, running 4 or 5 days per week. I recommend this item.

Accurate Heart Rate and Running Metrics
The “run” hrm is definitely worth the bit extra money given the in depth analysis you get. The heart rate accuracy is very good. And it gives you cadence (average, max) left/right foot ratios, stride length, contact time and more. These metrics can easily be researched and the info used to improve your running. The only difference I have noticed is the strap itself does not seem to be that well made. The shape (width) has been lost after only a month’s use, and the comfort is not quite right. Overall, great piece of kit with which to improve your running.

I'm happy with it
I'm pleased with the HRM even though it's on the expensive side. I got it to use with my Garmin Forerunner 935 because I was struggling to get decent readings when in the gym. I wasn't particularly bothered about having the run dynamic but thought they'd be interesting to have as well, and being able to do the HRV test. Anyway, overall the HRM feels quite nice quality and was easy enough to pair up with the watch. It connects straight away and the signal doesn't appear to drop out like it sometimes did with the last HRM I owned. However, at the end of a workout (as soon as you end it on the watch that is), it seems to keep disconnecting even though my HR is still quite high and big chunks of time are sometimes missing from the data immediately after a workout. Neither the HRM nor the wrist based measurement wants to kick in which can be a bit frustrating and is why I've knocked a star off. Other than that though it seems quite accurate and reliable so I'm happy

Excellent HR monitor for runners
Very accurate HR monitor with no spurious results like my previous one. Comfortable enough to wear all day and sends lots of extra running data to the Garmin for us data geeks!

Great companion for wrist HR monitors
Got this to track my HR more accurately than my Garmin forerunner 235 wrist monitor.Once paired the watch picks up the strap straight away and gives a better insight to my training and effort levels while doing hills/intervals.I put off getting one for years but it’s made my training way more efficient by allowing me to look at the data without the 30% error that comes with the in built watch HR monitor.Marked down on comfyness as straps are always gunna be noticed but I wouldn’t say it’s uncomfortable.

HRM problems etc
Nine days after I bought the HRM sensor, it stopped working. I bought it because the heart rate monitor on my Fenix 5 plus became erratic. I'd read the part about using a drop of washing up liquid once a week etc, but it hadn't worked. I'd started the process of returning the monitor and wondered if I should have bought a FitBit instead of the Fenix. Giving the HRM one last chance, I put around 4 drops of washing up liquid onto a micro-fleece cloth doused in hand hot water and gave the HRM monitor a good wipe down. It's worked perfectly since then. I tried the same on the Fenix and the heart rate monitor sprang into life, and it too has been fine since then. So I've revised my ratings from zero to 5.
