Great just what I wanted. The sound is supposed to be poor as they are for monitoring sound and not good for music listening for relaxing as they are harsh so the accentuate the region around 1KHz-5KHz so you can hear most of the information which is projected forward in the listening area.Fairly poor off axis sound but as near feild monitors that is what you would expect as you are supposed to sit next to the speakers.There is an LED to set up the listening position.The LED needs to be shining brightest on your ears.The Low frequency driver is fine and a roll off filter helps if you can only place the speakers against a wall.The rear firing port really performs best away from a wall.The idea of this type of speaker is not fidelity but to allow you to hear your mix.If you want to listen to already recorded and mixed music these are not for you.If you want to mix sounds using a computer then these you might like.If they produce 100 Watts at the speakers I would say the speakers are very inefficient as compared to my main monitors they are quiet but saying that when using this type of speaker you sit very close to them and they are plenty loud enough , just don't expect to do a Stadium Gig with them.I am happy with them.

For the money, these BX5-D3 are amazing.I make techno pop with Drum Machines, Synths, Piano, Guitar and Vocals. They sound great. Use them away from walls they have plenty of bass and can take a massive beating and pounding sound wise. I've thrown some very heavy and intense drum machine and synth low frequencies at these making the air move at the back at actually heavily distorting the shape of the kevlar woofer extensively almost to the point of trying to break them yet the don't break and the bass and treble and mids sound great. Years now I have thrown absurd frequencies at them and still these little tough boys come back for more. Fantasic build quality. So easy to use as well. Yes the built in analogue amplifier gets hot at the back after heavy use but that is normal. It is not a PC gaming speaker, it is a studio monitor, probably the cheapest one you can buy but they do the job brilliantly. I comment after years of use. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Straightforward to install. Good solid weight to them. I have played a large number of different songs through them and they have not disappointed. Through the acoustic adjustments, you can make the sound sharp or warm easily. Running them through a Behringer mixer and easily the best setup for DJing or home / Gaming applications. 10 out of 10. Good value and not too intrusive in size.

Bought 2 of these, really big and loud definitely won’t need to have them loud to appreciate the sound.

An amazing sounding accurate sound scape, with a wide range and suitable low frequency reach for general referencing as a bedroom studio.They have a very nice smooth aesthetic, but also discreet enough to blend into my setup. The tweeters being pushed back in slightly is a welcome change to its previous model, for protection.Having to replace an aged set of BX5 D2, in comparison these have a slight edge of clarity to them, and a small power boost to boot, however this comes with the unfortunate increase in its noise floor.I use them as near field, however would be better suited as mid field, which would counter the noticeable noise floor when powered on and idle.

I was somewhat sceptical of these being as good as reviews have stated, but am absolutely blown away by the quality of sound, build and performance. No audible hiss or hum evident at average volume. If I had to pick a fault, it would be no standby or auto-shutoff, but I guess this helps keeps the price down. Instructions are clear, easy to position, and the inclusion of an LED to inform you when set up correctly is genius. Compared to a friend's Sony HT-5s, these are arguably as good, and half the price!

Great sounding speakers but given 3 stars for how hot they get, have had them cut off due to overheating a handful of times

I’ve been mixing through M-Audio BX-5’s since 2009. They are very flat with no bass exaggeration. They have allowed me to consistently nail bass and kick EQ’s for well over a decade. They keep getting better every generation with this newest model being no exception. I absolutely trust them. They are very good looking and bring plenty of volume for any genre., the idea here isn’t to be mega loud but to be very accurate. BX-5’s aren’t the most powerful monitors and I seem to go through a set every 3 years or so. But for the price, who cares? I’m mixing stuff that blows away stuff that guys are mixing on speakers that cost thousands more

Mega guter Sound für einen sehr fairen Preis

Soy ingeniero y he comprado muchos monitores a lo largo de los años. Compré estos monitores porque estaban baratos para una estación para editar video. No esperaba mucho por el precio pero me sorprendieron por la calidad y la potencia. Obvio con un woofer de 5 pulgadas no se pueden esperar muchos graves pero aún así es mejor de lo que esperaba. Sí los recomiendo para alguien que está empezando o para un home studio de producción (no de mezcla o mastering).
