Not a dud
My adult son loved it

My faithful friend came to the end of it's life and so...
My last de Longhi, was a different model but excellent, slightly bigger and faithfully served many a delish mug of tastiness for 6 years - till a switch failed. This one is narrower, looks rather sharp to be honest, and has a smaller foot print. I like to grind my own beans... The thing I like about it is that it can take our large size mugs, the old one could no, unless put in at an angle. So whilst it is not my old faithful friend I think in time we will become the great buddies.... Only error when ordering the first time I ordered the 110volt - not a good idea for the 240v British Isles but Amazon does good returns.!

Do not buy this item if you live in the UK!
This coffee machine cannot be used in the UK as the voltage on it is 120 volts whereas it needs to be 240 volts for use in the UK. Do not buy it if you live in the UK. I don't understand why Amazon are selling it in the UK, they need to remove this item for sale in the UK. However, when I rang Amazon customer support they were very helpful and immediately issued a refund (not yet received - will take 5-7 working days to appear on my card) and a QR code for a free return of the package, so I cannot fault the customer service.

This is for UK version, with a UK plug
The 'hot water' function is a bit useless really, and slightly dangerous - it fires out in short spurts, in time with the pulsing pump. I contacted Delonghi, who said this was how it was supposed to work, and the hot water feature is only for clearing out the steam wand. It has an annoyingly small water capacity. You have to grind the beans just the right size, or else the machine just can't pump the coffee through and gives up, causing a bit mess when you take the filter holder out. You can't tap the filter holder to remove the coffee because the filter comes out. With a bit of practise though, you can get a decent coffee from it, and the steamer is good.

This machine is 120v
It’s the wrong voltage for use in Europe. It has a USA connector so I couldn’t plug it in. Good job as it would have probably exploded. Customer services didn’t seem to understand and it’s a load of bother to return. Read the specs to make sure you buy one suitable for 230/240V operation

NOT SUITABLE FOR UK AS 110 VOLTS
This is coffee maker is not suitable for the UK as it is 110 volts and has a USA plug on it. It should not be sold in UK.

I really love this espresso machine. It's nice and compact, not taking too much room on my counter. The espresso it produces is quite nice, although my old Breville Cafe Roma gave better creme. I will continue to try different beans and grind sizes to get better creme. The portafilter is tight to engage at first, but I think mine is breaking in now, so it is a little easier. People have complained about it being tippy because it is so light, when engaging the portafilter, but some trial and error and I figured out the best way to hold it is on the machine just above where you put the portafilter in when you twist it. After some practice I have worked out how to get nice foam for my lattes. I'm really happy with it. The machine isn't overly loud. The steaming for lattes is much quieter than my old Cafe Roma which sounded like dying banshees. I don't feel so guilty about using it when other members of the family are sleeping in the morning. People complaining about it not producing froth should watch some Youtube videos and keep trying. You will get it, and the froth will happen. Now I just have to figure out how to make art. Despite the lack of art on my lattes they still taste awesome, and the texture is really nice as well. Another thing Is full fat milk makes nicer froth, and add your syrups to your cup and not the milk. An americano has become part of my morning routine. I like to put the hot water in my cup first and pull the espresso shot on top. It leaves the creme more intact. Speaking of straight into the cup, it is nice to be able to remove the catch tray and fit a regular sized cup under the portafilter, so no need to transfer espresso shots to other cups. The baskets that comes with it comes apart for cleaning. I didn't see how often it is recommended that you take apart the baskets, but I would recommend once a day. I read other reviews that say after a few uses that their machines wouldn't pull a shot. I had this same issue, but I noticed that when I took apart the basket, it had dried espresso covering the little hole. Since then, I take it apart after I use it and either rinse or wash it off. I use a spoon to grip the little rubber tab to help it pull apart easier. I found that the double shot was too small, only about an ounce of fluid and I read it should be 2 ounces. I was able to easily program the machine to pull a longer shot. I really do love this machine and recommend it to those looking for an affordable espresso machine. Apparently you can buy a bottomless portafilter to upgrade and fine tune your espresso experience. I may one day do this. Edit to add that I tried grinding my beans slightly finer ans now have better creme. The Ethical Beans, Sweet Espresso are delicious and so smooth tasting.

I had a 3-in-one machine and knew it was time to upgrade when I saw the Delonghi Dedica Arte. Even though the Delonghi doesn't have a grinder, I bought one that didn't break the bank and the coffee is A1. First things first, the ease of use is truly there. It is straightforward to use. The steam wand has a great feel and I always steam twice after the milk for a cleaner wand. Other than the feel, the pressure is strong! Obviously, not to the level of a coffee shop machine but this is for the home and it is more than enough power. It is capable of pulling great-looking latte art. I am no barista, but even with my rookie skills, I can create art without it looking like polyps. The portafilter it comes with is good but I had to go with a bottomless. In my opinion, shots taste and look better with the bottomless portafilter. In my past machine, shots tasted way too bitter and no cream ever came from it. I can taste sweetness and body in my coffee. There is one minor problem I have with it, but I think I'm nitpicking. When I pull the shot and steam my milk, If I were to do another latte or cappuccino, I have to lower the temperature of the machine. This is done by releasing water through the steam wand, and it tends to be annoying when you have guests over. It takes about 1 to 2 minutes extra until you can pull another shot. Other than that, this machine is very very good and puts a smile on my face every morning.
