Black & White: A High Contrast Book For Newborns

This book is great for newborns. We've used this with our baby for the first two months and it would entertain her for a good 10-15 minutes. It's sturdy cardboard, stands well on its own (also closes nicely with velcro) and still looks like new after a couple of months using it. Now that our baby is starting to see colours as well, she's not as interested in it anymore but it was definitely worth the money and good stimulation. I will definitely be buying this as a baby shower gift for all my pregnant friends in the future.

This book is fabulous for when your baby starts opening their eyes and is able to focus on things close by. They are drawn to the stark colour contrast and will keep them entertained for a little while I get a quick shower, get changed or manage to throw a load of washing on. I liked that the book unfolds to it can be propped up beside the baby during nappy changes or tummy time and that it is still small enough to take on the go too. And I’d imagine once my baby is a bit older and can talk it’ll be used as a kind of flash card activity - we’ll see! Makes for a great gift, something a bit different too!

Good quality and sturdy enough to stand alone. The babies love this book. Great for them to focus on when they are lying on their playmat. Lots of smiles too.

This book is a lovely idea. It stands up so is great for tummy time. It seemed to work best when she was less than two months. Now that she is three months she is a bit bored of it. She does however remain interested in 3 of the 13 images. The butterfly, keys and buttons. I would say it is definitely worth getting for younger babies because they will look at it as opposed to colour books.

Our baby loves this book. We’ve been using it since she was four weeks old and she’s now three months. It folds out so you can place it on the floor for her to look at while baby is laying down. One side features a black background with white objects and the other side has white backgrounds with black objects. The contrast keeps our baby interested for “long” periods of time. We also make up stories and explain the objects which she loves. There are 14 images in total so lots to work with. Fantastic purchase, could not recommend enough for little ones.

My baby was born at 28 weeks and came home at 36 weeks. Even as little as he is, he loves this book. Stares at it for so long anytime I put it around his face. Helps keep him busy when I can’t hold him, during tummy time and during some diaper changes. Love it, definitely get for your baby, it’s perfect!

I bought this initially for my twin niece and nephew and remember them clocking it when getting nappies changed in the first couple of months. Two years later, I have my own baby and wanted something for her early visual development, and remembered this book. Bought it again and she loves it. She has been starring at it during ever nappy change since 3 weeks old. And now at 5 weeks, you can totally see her focusing intently at the images. The fact it flops out means it's great for around change mat or down around her play mat. More versatile use than standard book.

Had it for my kids, and got it for a baby friend

Lo que esperaba, y me encanta por tener tantas paginas/imágenes para contar historias a tu peque en cualquier idioma! Calidad del cartón es súper y muy agradable para tanto ni que bebé quien hoy a La 1ra lectura ya le atraiga la atención. Un dibujo cambiando página blanco sobre negro o negro sobre blanco. He pedido tb el libro acordeón pero prefiero este formato y el hecho que hayas más dibujos. (Añadiré mi reseña allí del otro). Este es más grande y de verdad se aguanta muy bien al suelo para bebé si este boca abajo o boca arriba. Mejor calidad-precio este modelo en mi opinión. Este libro completa otros libros blancos negros que me han encantado, pero tener uno de ese estilo con images es sólo vale la pena. Lo recomiendo si o si!

Timeless must-have! I received this book for my oldest when he was born in 2012 and heard raving reviews about how much the gift giver’s own baby had responded to this book. I have now used it for all 5 of my babies and all of them have LOVED it. It’s without a doubt, the only “toy” I have needed for the first couple months. Babies absolutely adore looking at the high contrast images (do a quick Google search on newborn eyesight and development and you will understand why). It is also my go-to shower gift! It’s especially perfect for tummy time, encouraging rolling from back to tummy, and wrapping around their view during diaper changes. It is amazing at calming a baby and keeping their focus and contented interest. The thing that sets this black and white book apart from the others, is the accordion style way it opens, making it perfect for baby to look at, or catch in their line of eyesight, no matter their position (back, tummy, changing time, etc). The other thing that makes it more special is that one side is white with black images and the other is black with white images, so it really keeps baby’s interest and can get changed up. Do not hesitate to buy; It will become a meaningful keepsake and a highly recommended shower gift.
