Great Bright Night light
Bought two of these units for my hall and landing. Needed the light for when guests come and may need to take that little trip in the night. Also they are great for when my grandchildren stay over. These are a lot brighter that other units I have. The unit is pleasing to look at and unobtrusive, the light is not the harsh light of some LED's units as the light has and opaque light diffuser cover, like the none clear light bulbs you can buy. It is not like the warm light of some bulbs though. The earth pin is made of plastic and I would think it is vulnerable to breaking off if you don't unplug it carefully. I have done this before with other units, not these I hasten to add, and the earth pin has been left in the socket. The only criticism, hence the 4 stars, I have is that the light sensor for turning the light off it not very sensitive. If you have a hall where bright daylight does not penetrate the light stays on, it no trouble just to turn it off and on as and when where this problem exists. Other that I am very please with these night lights.

Neat, efficient and practical - but not "warm"
Using mine in a kitchen to give enough light in the dark to reach the main light switch without tripping over/treading on cats! Works very well indeed, not only switching itself off when there's enough natural light, but also as soon as the main light's turned on (though in my case it's a strong bright light: not sure if it would do this with indirect/less powerful lighting or with lamps etc, or in a power point at floor level - mine's in a mid-height socket so its sensor is higher and nearer the light source). It's small and neat, roughly 3" from top to bottom, and at the bottom protrudes about 1.75" from the socket (much less at the top, with the tapered shape). Very practical and you can't go wrong at the price of £3.99 with free delivery; but if it's a warm glow you're after, this won't be for you as it throws a hard white fluorescent-type light, albeit scaled-down so less noticeable. However for my own situation and purpose it was slightly more effective than a warmer bulbed night light tried previously. It arrived within about 4 days by standard mail from the Long Life Lamp Company. What I'm not clear on is how much power it uses, as being LED rather than using a low-wattage bulb like many night lights, it's not expressed in wattage terms: details given are AC 110V-240V and 50Hz-60Hz, though it does say "energy saving" on the card which came with it. It's so small that surely it can't be much, but I would hate to think that by having this plugged in permanently I was using more power than another type of night light, as cutting down on electricity (by not having the main kitchen light on all evening) was what I wanted to achieve. Maybe someone will come along who understands these things and could clarify?

After trying some with little success, I've finally seen the light!
After moving into a new house which is very dark on a night, I wanted a nightlight I could simply plug in and leave on without having to worry about switching off - this is perfect! I tried some cheaper nightlights which were meant to detect when to come on and go off, but they varied massively. I swapped them between rooms and some lights would pretty much always stay on, which I didn't want. This light however is very accurate and comes on just at it starts to get dark on an evening. It emits a bright light in quite a wide angle, one of these at the top of the stairs illuminates the stairs and all the landing. If the children need the toilet on a night they can easily see where to go. I have 5 children and they like the landing light left on, now I don't have to put it on, this does the trick and I never have to worry about turning it on and off, I just leave it switched on and it automatically comes on for the twilight hours. In a nutshell: This is very well made and much more solid than some of the cheaper ones, I wish I'd just got this to start with as it detects light far more accurately and gives out more 'quality' light (instead of just being focused forwards, this emits light in all directions. Easily the best night light I've tried, it is probably too bright to put in a bedroom, but perfect for a landing or hallway.

Great little light
I have 2 of these night lights now and they are brilliant. The light level is perfect for bedrooms and hallways or landings. I have 1 in my 4 year olds bedroom which is quite large for a childs room, it gives off the right amount of light so that it is not too bright and not too dark. We then have our 2nd one on a long upstairs landing which means we do not need a main light switched on at night to walk between the bedroom and bathroom or from bedroom to bedroom. Have seen some questions asking if it is a good enough light to read by but it is not. I have tried a few different night lights but this one gives off the best amount of light , is best value for money and is small and compact. The only slight thing is that it should turn off when there is natural daylight but I find it can still stay on, not enough of an issue to deduct a star from its ratings though.

Bright and easy to use.
EDIT: after 8 months, the light has dimmed somewhat. At first I thought it was my imagination, but I bought two at the time, and when I brought the unused one out, it was almost twice as bright. It will be interesting to see how much the first one further dims. The description below was what I wrote on first using the night light. This is nice and bright without being intrusively bright. I was fed up of unnecessarily leaving our two hall lights on all evening, and this has turned out to be the perfect solution, especially as it automatically switches off as soon as another light source comes on. Be aware though that if you leave the socket switched on during the day, it will automatically come on once dusk comes, or if the weather is dark & cloudy during the day- its sensors are really quite sensitive.
